I have nod32 and after I clean the virus, it simply comes back.

Welcome to the forum. sorry for the delay. I am not looking at anything bad on your log, why don't you run this free online virus scanner from Kaspersky and post the report for me to see, it may pick up something thats not showing on your log.

Do you know what virus you say you have that keeps coming back ??

Now run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from Kaspersky Online Virus Scanner

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
  • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
  • Standard
  • Scan Options:
  • Scan Archives
  • Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan: Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
Post the log along with a New HJT Log into your next reply.

After the scan, post a new HJT log as yours is a little old.

Good Morning,

Still nothing found, run this other quick scan, it should only take 10 minutes or so but first run this system cleaner.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your desktop.
  • This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.

Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up




Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

I am still not looking at anything bad on your log although what your describing could be real bad.

Please download F-Secure Blacklight (fsbl.exe) and save to your C:\ drive.
  • Open a command window by going to Start > Run and typing: cmd
  • Copy/paste or type the following in the command window: C:\fsbl.exe /expert
  • Hit "Enter" to start the program and then close the cmd box.
  • Accept the user agreement and click "Next".
  • Click "Scan".
  • After the scan is complete, click "Next", then "Exit".
  • BlackLight will create a log in C:\ drive named "fsbl-xxxxxxx.log" (the xxxxxxx will be the date and time of the scan).
  • The log will have a list of all items found. Do not choose to rename any yet!
    I want to see the log first because legitimate items can also be present…like "wbemtest.exe" and "tcptest.exe.
  • Exit Blacklight and post the contents of the log in your next reply.

Note: If Blacklight does not work, rename fsbl.exe to zsbl.exe and try running it again.




Run Panda's ActiveScan from here and perform a full system scan.
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the "Scan your PC" button
  • A new window will open…click the big "Check Now" button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a couple minutes)
  • If you are on a slow connection it will take about 15 minuites for the scanner to load.
  • Click on "Local Disks" to start the scan
  • Once scan is done, click "see report" then "save report"
  • Save the log someplace you can find
  • Reboot
  • Post the Panda scan results in your next reply

What I would like you to do also please is to uninstall Hijackthis and download and install the newer version by Trendmicro.

Download Trendmicros Hijackthis to your desktop,
double click it to install, follow the prompts and by default it will install in C:\Program Files\Trendmicro\Hijackthis\Highjackthis.exe

Nir,

Nothing is showing up on any of the scans. I am not a big fan of ESET, it may be a false positive and then again it may not. When you run ESET and it finds it, where exactly does it find it, so you have a path to the infection. Example D:\xxxxxxx\xxxxxx. What do you have on your D: drive, is it for storage or your CD Rom?

Run this free scanner from Symantec, run the Virus scanner and be sure to include all drives Lets see what it picks up.

Just post the Symantec log , your HJT log looks fine.

hey ken! until the scan is complete, i'll tell u the exact problem. about a week and a half ago, NOD32 alrted me that one of me EXE files has a virus. i ran a system scan, and i found out every songel one of my exe files on drive D(a strorage drive) is infected. i used to option "clear", not quartine or delete, because these are important files. i read about the virus(win32/tenga.gen) and i learned that it attacsk EXE files. but, no one was able to tell me how to remove it. i haven't been alerted since that day, but i believe that the virus is still here. and also, i havent tried to open any of the exe files on drive D, because i fear they are still corrupted. can you help?

Lets wait and see what Symantec finds. What you can do is to right click on any of your .exe files on your D: drive and select Scan with NOD32 and see if any of them are infected.

ken, first of all, the symantec scan found nothing. it said the computer is free of viruses. i also ran a scan on one of the exe files, and NOD found nothing. so i took the risk, and tried to open the file. to my surprise, the file was corrupted!! i tried to open two more files, and i also recieved error messeages. the words in each messeage were different, but the buttom line is, they are all corrupted. dirve C is where windows is installed and where i install all of my programs. drive D is where my personall information is stored: pictures, movies, work documents…. i need these files, and i must find a solution. konw any? thank you very much, nir

I really don't know. It looks like from what you said that the D: drive is free of viruses, whether those files got corrupted on account of a virus , don't know. You may want to back them up to a CD and then run Nod32 on just the D: drive, run it in safemode.

To Enter Safemode
  • Go to Start> Shut off your Computer> Restart
  • As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly,
    this will bring up a menu.
  • Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to Safemode
  • Then press the Enter Key on your Keyboard

Its very possible that the reason NOD32 alerted you to that virus is because of the files being corrupted, how to restore corrupted files I really don't know. You may want to post in a windows forum for that.
