I have been having an ongoing problem with a spyware/malware. It started as a flashing icon in the toolbar and pop-ups would come up regarding different problems with my computer being infected saying I should click to download the latest virus/spyware removal programs. I never clicked on the pop-ups. Internet Explorer would also open up automatically, directing me to different websites, mainly savetheinformation.com. I view several different websites similar to this and including this one and eventually downloaded vundofix and ran it and it appeared to get rid of the problem. No more pop-ups, no more flashing icon, no more internet explorer directing me to savetheinformation.com. However, now I continually get error messages that reference c:\\WINDOWS\system32\ddcdddd.dll saying it is not a valid image and to check it against the installation disk. My computer runs much slower. Internet is slow. I only use Firefox for the internet. I don't know where to start, but I will post my most recent Hijackthis log. Thanks.

Hi! Welcome to the WTT forums.
My name is Scotty. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can take a while to research.
Please be patient.

Please make a uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
5. Click on the Save list… button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here in a reply.

Hi

Download and Save ComboFix
  • Download this file from below:

    Here
  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Disconnect from the Internet, than disable your anti-virus and any real-time anti-spyware monitors that are running.
  • Click Start>Run copy/paste or type "%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe" /killall into the Run box and click OK.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply with a new HijackThis log.
Note 1: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall
Note 2:Remember to re-enable your anti-virus and anti-spyware before reconnecting to the Internet.

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task-Manager use the Processes tab (press ctrl alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

In your next reply post:

Hi

Remember to disconnect from the Internet and disable your anti-virus before carrying out the next instruction, and to reenable the anti-virus before reconnecting to the Internet

Open Notepad - it must be Notepad, not Wordpad.
Copy the text below in the code box by highlighting all the text with your mouse and pressing Ctrl+C

File::
C:\WINDOWS\iun6002ev.exe
C:\WINDOWS\irunin.ini
C:\WINDOWS\irunin.dat
C:\WINDOWS\irunin.lng
C:\WINDOWS\irunin.bmp
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\pavas.ico
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Help.ico
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ovciicej.ini
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\aulosbss.ini
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ddcdddd.dll

Folder::
C:\VundoFix Backups
C:\Program Files\TopSearch

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{5F9F97BC-785B-44EF-8612-B920F708FEB1}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{C1E58A84-95B3-4630-B8C2-D06B77B7A0FC}]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\ddcdddd]

Go to the Notepad window and click Edit > Paste
Then click File > Save
Name the file "CFScript.txt" (including the quotes)
Save the file to your Desktop

[external image: Posted Image]

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task-Manager use the Processes tab (press ctrl alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

In your next reply post:

Thanks for all of your help.
Hi

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
    (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back in your next reply.

Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present):

Hi

Open Notepad - it must be Notepad, not Wordpad.
Copy the text below in the code box by highlighting all the text with your mouse and pressing Ctrl+C

File::
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\wwyay.bak1
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\wwyay.bak2

Folder::
C:\SDFix

  • Please go HERE to run PandaActiveScan…

  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open…click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)

  • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to your desktop.

In your next reply post:

The PandaScan is not working. I have tried running it three times and it always freezes on C:\DRIVERS\VIDEO\INFCACHE.1 and the file count scanned is always around 49300, the most recent time it was 49232. There were 69 Spyware detected and 3 Hacking tools and rootkits detected. The first two scans, after it froze the window just closed out. I also had to run the scan on Internet Explorer. Is that the normal way? Also, all three times I tried the scan, pop-ups kept appearing, after it froze, saying

Low Disk Space - You are running out of disk space on Local Disk (C:). To free space on this drive by deleting old or unnecessary files, click here. . .

I did not click on it. What do I do now?

Michael

File::
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\wwyay.ini

ComboFix.txt
