Hello.

I am using Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2. I noticed my computer is running slowly. When I press CTRL + ALT + DEL to show the Task Manager, it shows that CMDAGENT.EXE is using 100% CPU. When I click on the process and click on "End Process" it says Access Denied. Is there a way to stop this program from hogging my CPU?

Thank you.
See if this will help:

Download the latest Comodo Firewall. Physically disconnect your internet connection.

Go to Add or Remove Programs and uninstall Comodo firewall.
Shutdown and reboot
Install the new version you downloaded previously

Reconnect to the Internet. If that doesn't help, it's possible you've picked up some kind of malware infection.
Might be a good idea to follow directions for posting a Hijackthis log here:

Ah, the wonder and magic of computers :D, glad it's working better now. Thanks for letting me know.
It has been my experience over the last few months of using Comodo Firewall that every once in a great while, cmdagent.exe gets a BAD case of the hiccups and it just sits there and hums along at the expense of EVERYTHING else. So far, it has been immediately fixed by a cold restart (in Windows XP: Start, Shut down. Then restart.). Sometimes a warm restart (Start, Restart) will not kill whatever is causing cmdagent to 'go bonkers'. :pullhair:
It can sometimes happen, if you have it on auto-update. It only takes one bad update file, and Comodo won't/can't recognize it as a update. Then it goes into loops trying to download updates. Try go in manually and update. If you have a bad update file, you will get some kind of error message. Most likely "error 109" which is the update error for Comodo Firewall. Regads Abydos
i am now having the same problem, but with a twist. i uninstalled and reinstalled comodo. now instead of taking up 99 CPU it just slowly climbs up the Mem usage then when it gets to like 150,000K or somewhere around there it DROPS the Mem Usage down to 1k and starts the climb all over again… and it does this over and over… alternating tween 00-01 CPU. idk WHY it is doing this, but when it gets HIGH it slows things down majorly, then when it drops it, my computer goes back to normal. this is EXTREMELY irritating. any ideas?
i have never heard of Boclean v4.2x in my LIFE… i have Ccleaner, Comodo, and superspyware something or other… i THINK i fixed the problem… i completely uninstalled, reboot, ran spyware, caught a few trojans, reboot, reinstalled, reboot had to update the antivirus, reboot… my poor harddrive hates me i'm sure for the rebooting… but i THINK its under control THOUGH my computer is now acting a lot slower… like if i try to listen to a CD while i am doing stuff online, if i dont have Winamp "on top" the CD tends to start skipping or freezing. when i click for it to come to the top it plays like normal… its really irratating, and i never had this problem til now… maybe i have just fried my processor… i'm about fed up with this laptop… IBM thinkpad t41… fyi… never get one
Hello titan2781,

Glad you made some progress, but sorry you are still having a frustrating experience with that laptop.

With the additional information you have supplied about detecting and removing some Trojan activity, I am concerned that your machine may still have some Malware that is hidden from the tools you have available.

I'd suggest you visit our Infections Removal Forum to make sure.

is there malware that can escape both comodo and SUPERAntiSpyware? SuperAnitiSpyware seems to catch pretty much everything. can you just recommend a software to use to scan with?
