I'd be grateful if someone could have a look at the following HJT log…

The symptoms are:

- IE gets re-directed to porn sites every time I click on a link/enter a URL.
- Certain MSN Messenger contacts seem to send me files containing viruses, along with typed messages like 'Do you mind if I upload this photo to myspace?'. When I speak to them about it, they tell me they've sent nothing.
- Today Norton Internet Security has warned me at least half a dozen times that a 'remote system' is trying to access my computer (I assume this means it has intercepted a hacker).
- I just got a new warning as I'm writing this thread, informing me that a remote system is trying to access lsass.exe…

Help me. please!

Hi Bloop?! and welcome back to the forums.

My name is Dave. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can sometimes take a while to research so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
  • I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
Please download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Double click on SDFix.exe. It should automatically extract a folder called SDFix to your system drive (usually C:\). Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the SDFix folder and double click on RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y and press Enter to begin the script.
  • It will start cleaning your PC and then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any key to restart the PC.
  • Your system will take longer than normal to restart as the fixtool will be removing files.
  • When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished.
  • Press any key to end the script and to load your desktop icons.
  • A text file should automatically open, so please copy the contents and post them here. We also need you to post a new HijackThis log
Hi IndiGenius, thanks for your quick reply. I've attached the SDFix report, and here is the new HJT log:

Hi, Can you do me a big favor and post the SDFix log right here and not as an attachment. It's almost impossible to read and interpret that way. Thanks, Dave
Oops, sorry about that. I assumed the formatting wouldn't change after the attachment. Here's the log:

* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.

* Click OK.
Please reverse this process once the fix is complete.

Delete the following file if found:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\kdamo.exe

Download Rootkit Revealer here (bottom of page):

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysintern…itRevealer.mspx

Unzip the files and run RootkitRevealer.exe.

Press the scan button. Try to leave the system idle while running.

When done select File–>Save…and post the contents of the log.
Hello IndiGenius, and thanks for your continued assistance. Kdamo.exe was already gone. It seems I'm not being re-directed to unsafe sites anymore, and the MSN problem seems to have been resolved, however, I am still getting frequent attempted intrusion warnings from Norton, such as this one: Intruder: SAM 192.168.1.64 Invalid UDP Destination Port Risk Level: Medium I have no idea what Invalid UDP Destination Port means or whether this is related to viruses/malware, but I do know that these notifications have only been happening very recently. Do you have any idea what might be causing this? Here is the RootkitRevealer report (it automatically saved to WINDOWS/System 32…is that OK?): HKLM\SECURITY\Policy\Secrets\SAC* 15/03/2005 17:06 0 bytes Key name contains embedded nulls (*) HKLM\SECURITY\Policy\Secrets\SAI* 15/03/2005 17:06 0 bytes Key name contains embedded nulls (*)

* Now click on the 'Save Report As…' button:
* Make sure it says Save as a text file - change it if not
* Save the file to your desktop.
