Howdy Jersh,

Welcome to WTT. Work laptop meaning work IT people who might also help with fixing things? Always preferred when you have a trained person who also has a responsibility to do the corrections for you. No infection showing here though, or anything outright amiss I could pinpoint. Let's clear out temp storage and take on additional look at things to be sure as far as malware goes.

Go Here and download ATF cleaner. Click on the downloaded file to run it, and select "Select All", then click Empty Selected (and close ATF).

If you have them, also click on Firefox/Opera at the top and repeat the steps (and close ATF). Firefox/Opera will need to be closed first for the cleaning to be effective.

Then Go Here and download Silent Runners to your desktop. Run it, and post back here the log it creates. If your protective software queries the script, allow it to run. It's not malicious. It will create a file named Startup Programs, and will notify when the scan is complete. Copy the log from the Startup Programs file back here please.
Hi, thank you for responding to my message. Erm I would not qualify as an IT tech, i am just the guy that tends to fix stuff around the office while working with data lol. Again this is a laptop that… hell i dont even know what they did to it, but it is quite depraved one might say. I checked the system specs before i started working on this piece of junk. It does not have much, but it should be enough to run word and basic pages such as google without much trouble. However it is not, I did both things you suggested and i have the report from Silent Runners here for you.

Thanks for your help again,
Jersh

Nothing of malware in that log. It shows a VirusScannerPro startup from Avanquest - I would assume it is the same software as listed here as Fix-It. Might consider disabling it from startup through it's Options/Preferences.
