Hi,

Quarantined various files infected with zonebac using Norton Symantec but am concerned about reinfection. Had posted a log back in late July but it was never replied to.

Please help!

hi dlnqnt,

[Quarantined various files infected with zonebac using Norton Symantec

anything in quarantine is safe from harming your computer. you can delete them from quarantine if you want. you have a antivirus app, do you have a anti-malware also. both scan for different threats. you should have a least one antimalware app.

scan with HJT, put a checkmark beside the items below, close all windows and click fix checked:

Hi shelf life,

Thanks for he quick reponse!

Yes, I have Ad-Aware SE Personal, the freebie kind and scan every couple of weeks or so. Will that do?

A question about deleting these quarantined files. If I delete them will I need to replace them or will XP automatically do that you me? How does that work?

Also, a question about Task Manager. Two weeks or so ago something happened to my machine that caused IE to hangup on starting and caused my Task Manager to only display a 'Task' window without any tabs or way to close it.

Well, I starting using foxfire (Mozela) for a several days. Then yesterday my IE started working again.

But, I still have the problem with Task Manager. I would like to see my permformance and list of active programs like it should be. What is going on and what do I need to do to fix it?

Thanks again,
dlnqnt

hi dlnqnt, yes ad aware will do. keep it and your antivirus updated. about the quarantined files: anything in quarantine is bad. its something you dont want on your computer, be it malware or a virus. thats what antivirus and anti-malware scanners do: search for and delete/quarantine files. those in quarantine are safe from harming your computer. they can be safely deleted. i will get back to you about task manager. iam in linux right now. firefox is a much less exploited browser than IE. shelf life
hi, with task manager open try double clicking near the edge of the border around the window, to bring it back to its full state. shelf life
