Things are looking pretty good. I still need you to perform three tasks:

1. Please DELETE the following folder and all its content: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Desktop\SmitfraudFix

2. Determine what is your F: Drive. Then DELETE the following file: F:\infrom.exe. I will need to know how this procedure went. If it did not meet with success, please provide me with as much information as possible.

3. Now how is the system running? If all is well, just give me the OK and we will proceed with the final cleanup procedures which will, as part of the routine, eliminate all the quarantined undesirables still on your machine as well as some of the tools that we used.

Regards,

Trevuren
Its good to hear that things are going well. Ok, this is what I've done, 1) I've deleted SmitFraud as instructed. No problem with that. 2) This is the problem. How do i determine which is my F: drive? I just couldn't figure that one out. The F: drive is actually the usb port that usually use to plug in my handphone. I plugged in and try to search for the file but couldnt be found. As things gone so far, my pc is in good shape. Hope you could point me out on how to get the 2nd task done. Thanks!
We will try the following:

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your desktop.
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  • When the scan is complete, a text file will open - Main.txt
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of Main.txt in your thread in the HijackThis Log Help Forum.
  • An additional text file, Extra.txt, will also be available (by default) in the following FOLDER, C:\Deckard\System Scanner.
  • Please go to that FOLDER and also copy the contents of Extra.txt to your post as well.
Note: some firewalls may warn that sigcheck.exe is trying to access the internet - please ensure that you allow sigcheck.exe permission to do so.

What DSS will do:

  • Create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
  • Clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
  • Check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review. DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have it installed.

Post Logs:
  • DSS Scan Results: contents of 1) Main.txt and 2) Extra.txt
Done that, so this is the dss scan result,

main.txt

R2 Apple Mobile Device - "c:\program files\common files\apple\mobile device support\bin\applemobiledeviceservice.exe"
Well, in light of this last report not showing that file either, I must conclude that it was only the orphaned "mountpoint" registry entry that was pointing to a pen drive type apparatus that may have been used once on your machine. Everything looks clear to go.

Congratulations, your logs look CLEAN

There are a few things you must do once you system is completely clean:

Time for some housekeeping
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK

    • [external image: Posted Image]
  • When shown the disclaimer, Select "2"
The above procedure will:
  • Delete the following:
    • ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
    • VundoFix backups, if present
    • The C:\Deckard folder, if present
    • The C:_OtMoveIt folder, if present
  • Reset the clock settings.
  • Hide file extensions, if required.
  • Hide System/Hidden files, if required.
  • Reset System Restore.

Here are some tips to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future:

1. Make sure you keep your Windows OS currentby visiting Windows update
regularly to download and install any critical updates and service packs. With out these you are leaving the backdoor open.

2. I strongly recommend installing the following applications:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
To protect yourself further:
  • Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
And also see TonyKlein's good advice
So how did I get infected in the first place?

Trevuren
