Hello!

I'd appreciate input on the logfile at the end of this post

Summary of what's happened so far --

Irecently ran a Kaspersky full system scan and it located (and deleted) the following:

deleted: Trojan program Trojan.Win32.KillFiles.nu File: C:\Documents and Settings\MYSELF\Local Settings\Temp\207354\tmp1610736.tmp

Then I ran a Spybot scan and it found (and dealt with) this:

MailSkinner.rtk: Root class (Registry key, fixed)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\OutlookAddin.Addin

MailSkinner.rtk: Root class (Registry key, fixed)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\OutlookAddin.Addin.1

MailSkinner.rtk: Class ID (Registry key, fixed)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\CLSID\{C704648D-6030-47E9-ADBA-1E13B6A784AE}

MailSkinner.rtk: Settings (Registry key, fixed)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\OutlookAddin.Addin

My computer is still acting a bit weird at startup (processor slows down, speeds up) and I am still getting the following warnings from Kaspersky at EVERY startup:

detected: riskware Invader (loader) Running process: C:\Program Files\SBC Self Support Tool\SmartBridge\MotiveSB.exe

and

detected: riskware Invader (loader) Running process: C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe

Thanks ahead of time for whatever info you can offer.

Howdy bugoff, Welcome to WTT. The SpyBot items are known SpyBot false positives (legit items misidentified) as of the end of September. Did you update SpyBot prior to that scan? The two Kaspersky risks are just that - it is suggesting they have some action to check on further as they have the potential to load processes. But of course these two are not malware. You should have some means in Kaspersky to mark them as okay so it won't keep alerting. The temp file is a random name, so not a known item, but by the looks of the Kaspersky tag "killfile" it may be a recent HP file false positive as well. But as a temp, if removed, it would have only been created for some specific action, so will be replaced the next time that occurs. May want to keep Kaspersky as current with updates as possible to make sure it is the latest definitions. Are you having any actual infection problems there?

After I just posted I saw a toolbar item overlooked. The log shows in part a People PC toolbar (see here). People PC was known for their spyware toolbar long before the bought out an ISP and expanded their horizons. Did you have them as an ISP provider in the past?
