the "trayapp" pop up (it references a trayapp.msi start up disk (No clue)…both of these pop up after the "Windows Installer" pop up…..any ideas? I tried to reboot and those seem to be the remaining issues…. ************** JIT Debugging ************** To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this application or machine (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. The application must also be compiled with debugging enabled. For example: When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine rather than being handled by this dialog.
Good Morning,

Download: DelDomains and save it to the desktop.
  • Close all open windows and your browser
  • Right Click DelDomains.inf and select > Install
  • Reboot your computer

This file maybe bad., do this

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing :
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Once your system is clean, we suggest that you reverse this to keep critical windows files from accidently being deleted.

Go to this site Jotti Upload and under the browse feature, browse to this file
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareUpdater.exe

Then click on upload and it will give you a report, post the report in your next reply.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\??sks <– look for this folder and delete it

Were you able to flush your DNS Cache???

Post a new log along with the Jotti report please and as far as those other problems, they may be windows related and I can direct you after we are done to some windows support sites

Jamie,

This is what I would do, the DNS Cache needs to be flushed .
  • Go to Start> Run and type in services.msc then press Enter
  • Scroll down to DNS Client
  • Double Click that service to open it.
  • Then change the Startup Type to Automatic.
  • OK your way out of the program.
Then try it again.
  • Next Go start> Run type cmd and hit OK
  • Type in ipconfig /flushdns then hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed)
  • Type exit hit enter

This is how you restore a backup from what HJT removes, the software updater is not looking to good but hopefully its not related to your printer or scanner or a program like that, I also need you to delete that file but keep it in the Recycle Bin for a few days and make sure it does not cause any problems.

To restore the backups:

  • Open HiJackThis
  • Click on "View the list of Backups"
  • Place a check mark next to anything you want to restore
  • Click Restore
  • Click Yes
  • Reboot your computer

Remove these with HJT.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SoftwareUpdater] C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareUpdater.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SoftwareUpdater] C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareUpdater.exe

The 016 entries are safe to remove, if you know what these are and know them to be safe then leave them, if needed when you access these sites they will just prompt you to download them again.

Keep windows enable to show all files and folders, when your system is clean and we are done you can disable it again.

C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareUpdater.exe <– delete this

  • Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
  • Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
  • It should have an icon next to it:
    [external image: Posted Image]
    Select it and click Remove.
  • Reboot your system.
  • Then go to the Sun Microsystems and install the update
  • Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 3 <–This is what you need to download and install.
  • If you chose the online installation, it will prompt you to run the program.
  • If you chose the offline installation, you will be prompted to save the file and you can run it from wherever you saved it.
  • Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify
I like to to do the offline installation and save the setup file in case I may need it in the future

Post a new log and let me know how your doing malware wise, I will have to direct you to some windows forums that deal with your other issue.
Hi Ken, here is the new log file. I was able to flush dns. In your last post, you sain you needed a file deleted but kept in the recycle bin..I'm not sure what file you were talking about. AS far as the malware/pop ups/ bubbles & icons, they are gone (yeah)

Thats great Jamie,

You can remove this with HJT, games from PopCapLoader are not recommended , sometimes they bring guests with it.

C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareUpdater.exe <– I was referring to this file, if everything is ok in a few days then you can delete it out of the Recycle Bin.

The rest of your log looks just fine  Are you still having windows problems, do you need some links to clear up that issue??
Jamie,

Glad all the malware is gone, as far as your other issues, they are windows related so I am providing links to help you in that area, they are more suitable for windows problems.

Are you mad ? I mean really mad, seething mad, so mad your ready to spit, mad that you have taken your hard earned dollars to buy a computer only to have some Miscredents, Dirt Bags and Cyber Criminals install a malicious program on your computer without your knowledge or consent. You can post your complaint at the above site. If you live in the U.S.A. you can also report your grievance to your State Attorney Generals Office and the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection.

Here are some free programs to install, these are must haves to help keep you secure
  • Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.
  • Spyware Blaster It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed.
  • Spyware Guard It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • Win Patrol This program will warn you when any changes are being made to your system and give
you the option to deny the change.
  • IE-Spyad
IE-Spyad places over 4000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads
(cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • Firefox 2.0 It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and
painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.
  • Zone Alarm Here is a free Firewall from Zone Labs, I
wouldn't access the internet without it.
