Make Sure Internet Explorer is NOT open when trying this)

Launch HijackThis, click the 'Open'Misc Tools'Section -> 'Open hosts file manager'. Delete every line (select each line and click 'Delete line(s)') except the very first top lines beginning with # and: 127.0.0.1 localhost

Once finished, click the 'Open in Notepad' button. It should look like this:

This is what your host file should look like:

#

Copyright © 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

I would remove all the extra ones like: 82.146.60.44 unless you added them.

Do this again but after doing this before reboot do this:
Go to: C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Right Click on ETC and select Properties. Put a check / tick in the Read Only box.

I would remove all the extra ones like: 82.146.60.44 unless you added them.

Now reboot, run HJT and see if they are gone.
hi there, tried your suggestion but when i rebooted the host lists were still the same. when i went opened hostsfile manager in misc tools there wasnt any lines begining with # or 127.0.0.1localhost. each time i reboot i get a dialup nrtworking dialog box saying windows cannot acess ern.nnctx.com.ru would you like to connect to a network when i close the box i will get another telling me the same just a different site.i have also found that my d drive has stopped working when i try to run any antispyware it tells me d is not acessible incorrect function or files may have been moved
when i went into search for files or folders i got a message saying C:\programme files\winzip is not a valid folder, so i opened programme files but i dont see a winzip folder in there
when i click on the download link it changes page and i am told i am being redirected to a third party site for the download,if download does not start in a few moments then click here. i have waited for about ten mins nothing happens so i click here again i am redirected to another page with options to download.when i click on the link after waiting abut ten mins again i am told cannot find server.i have done this three times last night and once this evening with the same result
tried that with more or less the same result, however i was redirected to a page which said now that youve completed your dowmload let version tracker pro dectect and correct your out of date software and drivers. i can download that alright, but not winzip

Download the trial version of AVG Anti-Spyware from here and install it. When the program has been installed, and you click the Finish button, AVG Anti-Spyware will open.

If the program does not automatically update itself during installation, or you are unsure whether it has done so, please do the following:
  • Click the Update icon at the top and under Manual Update click the Start update button.
  • The program will either update or inform you that no update was available.
  • It is essential that you get the update - keep trying until successful. (Note: If you have problems getting the update, you can download an installer for the full database from here (save it on your desktop). Once you have downloaded the installer, make sure that AVG Anti-Spyware is closed and then double-click on avgas-signatures-full-current.exe to install the database).
Please set up the program as follows:

This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. It will create a file named:
c:\rapport.txt

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Please post:
C:\rapport.txt
downloaded smitfraud and avg but when i click open on avg i get a message saying nsis error the installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete. this could be the result of a damaged disk,a failed download or a virus. i tried downloading again but with the same result
