v1rtue_X,

Welcome to the forum, I can't read your log the way you posted it, do a couple of things.

1. When HJT opens in Notepad, go to Format and make sure Wordwrap is UNCHECKED.

2. C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\HijackThis.exe<—Go here and right click on the HJT Icon, (looks like a red stick of dynamite with a plunger) and rename it to Scanner.exe. <– Don't forget the .exe and post a new log.
Did those steps, here's the new log:

OK, it appears Vundo is present, lets run a few tools.

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Download VundoFix to your desktop
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

You may not have this infection but your DNS entries have been changed, so run this tool and the fixes behind it.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
FixWareout Subratam
FixWareout Lonny
  • Save it to your desktop and run it.
  • Click Next, then Install,
  • Then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
  • The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
  • You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
  • Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
  • At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.
Save the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt and post it into your next reply.

Now lets check some settings on your system. For (2000/XP) Only)
  • Go to Start > control panel.
  • If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections.
  • Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl.
  • Left click on properties.
  • Click the Networking tab.
  • Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically
  • Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be available on some systems

  • Next Go start> Run type cmd and hit OK
  • Type in ipconfig /flushdns then hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed)
  • Type exit hit enter

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your desktop.
  • This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up

This is what I need.

v1rtue_X,

Those scans remove a ton of bad stuff  I would like you to do a couple of quick things while I am looking over your logs

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint This program is not malicious but installs without your knowledge or consent , uses system resources and is not needed, unless you do use it for something I would suggest uninstalling it via the Add Remove programs in the Control Panel.
  • Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
  • Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
  • It should have an icon next to it:
    [external image: Posted Image]
    Select it and click Remove.
  • Reboot your system.
  • Then go to the Sun Microsystems and install the update
  • Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 3 <–This is what you need to download and install.
  • If you chose the online installation, it will prompt you to run the program.
  • If you chose the offline installation, you will be prompted to save the file and you can run it from wherever you saved it.
  • Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify
I like to to do the offline installation and save the setup file in case I may need it in the future

All I need is a new HJT log and I will be back in a bit
Remove these with HJT.

You have a marker on your Combofix scan for Spyware Quake which is part of the Smitfraud family of Trojans although I dont see it on your log, just run option 1 of this tool to be on the safeside.

Please download SmitfraudFix
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

I need to see the Smitfraud log, the OtMoveIt log and a New HJT log please
