Hello I am a first time user at this but when I connect to the internet it briefly diverts to www.161816.com or another similar one with numbers or fckip.com or similar to that and then I get tons of trojans etc get picked up some clean easily others dont. Currently I have got the trial version of kaspersky anti virus that is helping paritially i think but it keeps blocking so the problem has not gone obviously.

Below is the copied log from the hijackthis system run any help would be much obliged.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I hope both programs work with Vista.

Not all our tools work with Vista as of yet, that's why you haven't received any replies.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Next:

Please download FixWareout from this site:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads a text that will open (report.txt) Please save this file, you'll need to post it with a new HijackThis log.

Next:

Now lets check some settings on your system.
Enter your Control Panel and double-click on Network Connections

Then right click on your Default Connection
Usually Local Area Connection for Cable and DSL
Left click on Properties
Double-Click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item
Select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS Servers Automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks

Next:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two

Reboot and "copy/paste" the text file (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
well the first thing you have asked me to do was about all that could be done :( sadly. I downloaded the first programme and it did not run on vista, then with network connections its become network and sharing centre and i cant seem to find the properties on there at all and the other programme u asked me to get I clicked the link it says problem loading page. :( also the computer has problems when it connects to the internet as it goes much much slower than normal and quickly jumps to 161816.com or fckip.com and other sites but took it to pc world and techguys looked at it today and said it was fine when it clearly isnt. Also norton doesnt find any problems either. any help would be much obliged jon
Please download the trial version of ewido anti-malware 3.5 here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Note: This can take several minutes to load Sfae Mode.

Then please run Ewido, click on the Scanner run a full scan

Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start Ewido, and run a full scan.
  • Click on Scanner
  • Click on Settings
    • Under How to scan all boxes should be checked
    • Under Unwanted Software all boxes should be checked
    • Under What to scan select Scan every file
    • Click on Ok
  • Click on Complete System Scan to start the scan process.
  • Let the program scan the machine.
If Ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a checkmark in the lower left corner of the box that says Perform action on all infections and put a checkmark in the box next to Create encrypted backup, then choose clean and click Ok.

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save Report.
  • Click Save Report button
  • Save the report to your Desktop
Close Ewido and Reboot in Normal Mode.
i have done that the button save report couldnt be clicked after i preformed the action on all. It cleared 17 pieces of malware off my computer but when i came back onto normal mode and signed online, it still took me on occasion to 161816.com or fckip.com? also it keeps slowing down the internet as well? thanks for helping jon
1. Hit “Start”, search for “Notepad”. 2. Right click “Notepad” and select “Run as administrator”. 3. Click “Continue” on the warning. 4. Hit “Ctrl + o” to open a file. 5. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host 127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost
Your Host file is fine.

Please go HERE and do a online scan.
