[Closed] My Hijackthis Log

Well, my computer has been really sluggish as of late and very slow at startup. Ad-Aware has been picking up tons of problems but for some reason really can't fix them.. so here's my log, if there's anything that needs to be done please let me know! Thank you very much.

Download: CCleaner (freeware)

Run the installer, and uncheck the option to install Yahoo toolbar (unless you want Yahoo toolbar).
Once installed, run CCleaner click the Windows
The following should be selected by default, if not, please select:

Next: click Options click the Settings tab
Uncheck: "Only delete files older than 48 hrs.", click Ok
Then click Run Cleaner (bottom right) then Exit

Download, install, and update AVG 7.5 anti-spyware
  • Load AVG 7.5 and then click the Update tab at the top. Under Manual Update click Start update.
  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
  • Close AVG 7.5. Do not run it yet.
Please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. To boot into Safe Mode, please restart your computer. Tap F8 a few times before Windows loads. Select Safe Mode on the screen that appears.
  • In Safe Mode, load AVG 7.5 and click on the Scanner tab at the top. Click the "Settings" tab and then change the recommended action to Quarantine and click Automatically generate report after every scan. Click back to the "Scan" tab and then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run, so be prepared.
  • AVG 7.5 will list any infections found on the left hand side. When the scan has finished, it will automatically set the recommended action. Click the Apply all actions button. AVG 7.5 will display "All actions have been applied" on the right hand side.
  • Click on "Save Report", then "Save Report As". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again (like on the Desktop).
Optional
You can Viewpoint Manager nstalled on your computer. It is installed without the users permission and it may currently be sending information back to the companies that install it on the users computer, AOL is one of these companies and there are some others. I recommend you uninstall it.
If you want to do so please go to Add or Remove Programs and uninstall the following
Viewpoint Manager


Open up HijackThis, do a System Scan and select the following entry

Now click Fixed checked and close the program.

If you chose to remove Viewpoint Manager please copy the following to a program like Notepad and save it as Fixservices.bat and save it to the Desktop.

Now please run Fixservices.bat and once it has finished please delete it from the Desktop.


Reconfigure Windows XP to show hidden files:
Click Start. Go to All Programs, go to Accessories and then click Windows Explorer

In Windows Explorer click the Tools Menu, then click Folder Options. Switch to the View tab. Under Hidden files and folders check the Show hidden files and folders circle. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files circle. A warning box will come up asking if you want to do this, press Yes. Press Apply and then OK.

If you chose to remove Viewpoint Manager please delete the folder listed below in bold
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint

Reconfigure Windows XP to hide hidden files:

I don't see any evidence that you're running a firewall. Are you using Windows Firewall? If you are not sure please do the following to find out:
  • Click on the Windows Start button in the left hand corner of your screen.
  • Go to Control Panel or settings Control Panel
  • Double click on Windows Firewall
  • The two main options are On and Off. Tell me whether there's a checkmark next to On or Off.
