I was able to check and fix the three items you said to look for in my HJT scan, but I was not able to find the file "ystem\w" in my Application folder . I did a search for that file every way I could think of, but no luck. Should I now go back and re-check my folder
option "hide protected operating system files "? I left it unchecked. Below is my new HJT scan. Thanks again.

hi marceggers,

ok thanks for the info. those files with ? in them are tricky . these are valid files, its just that a letter is missing. replace the ? below with a s and its probably a folder called system

?ystem\w

if you couldnt find it thats good. HJT has the ability to delete some 04 items and i dont see it in the new hjt log you posted.

if you didnt see a folder called Application Data when you were looking, then yes change the option to show OS files.

i see you have ad aware, a second malware scanner wouldnt hurt. i suggest superantispyware, download, install follow the setup wizard and do ascan with it.
