Kaspersky Is Finding A Lot Of Infections

After installing limewire I have noticed that my computer is SICK! Kaspersky has found thousands of virus', I have tired to get rid of them, but keep coming back. I use Firefox all the time, and I am now getting a pop-up from IE usually for a Aniti-virus program. My computer keeps closing out Firefox when I try to start it, I get a pop-up, firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

What is going on with my computer? I read on a earlier topic that this seems to be going around, am I going to be able to get rid of this mess?
