[Resolved] Spyware.cyberlog-x Misery On Vista Pc

This thing is starting to wind me up and after 24 hours of trying I have been unable to get rid of it.

Hopefully some of you kind Techies will be able to help me get rid of it.

I have run superantispyware (although i did have to stop this after it had been running for almost 13 hours - It kept checking same file over and over). The log of this is below.

I have also been affected by virusprotectpro but expect that it is part of this spyware.cyberlog-x and w32.myzor.fk@yf virus as they seem to be menitioned together in forums elsewhere.

Does anyone have any advice they can pass on? It would be gratefully recieved.

You need to print this out or save a copy to Notepad for reading because you can NOT have IE/FF or any browser open while doing the fix.

Open HijackThis and click on Do a system scan only. Place a check mark next to the following:

Close ALL other open windows and programs and click Fix checked.

Reboot then post the following

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

1. Close all applications and windows.
2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt to your post in your reply

Also I recommend you go to Control Panel>Add/Remove and uninstall SpyNoMore..it has had a reputation in the past as being a less than reputable app. See more info HERE

Open Notepad and copy/paste everything in the following CODEBOX to a new file. Save the file on your desktop as "fix.reg" Please USE the quotes when naming the just as I did else it will not run correctly.

Please download the OTMoveIt by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt.exe to run it.
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

  • Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.

  • Close OTMoveIt
*If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately, you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine, choose Yes.
**If a reboot was necessary or you needed to Exit before posting the log, you will find a copy of the log at the root of the drive where OTMoveIt is installed, usually at :
C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\********_******.log
(where "********_******" is the "date_time")

Click "Exit" to close OTMoveIt.

You need to print this out or save a copy to Notepad for reading because you can NOT have IE/FF or any browser open while doing the fix.

Open HijackThis and click on Do a system scan only. Place a check mark next to the following:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =

Close ALL other open windows and programs and click Fix checked.

Reboot and post
  • fresh HijackThis log
  • C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\********_******.log where ******** is the LATEST date and time if more than one file exists
  • Tell how the comnputer is running

Hi here is the latest Hijack this log. (no windows were open again when this was run)

PC is running fine with no pop ups. Virus protect pro is still in the programs list as I did uninstall it. I was going to however it looked like it was going to install as it requested a language when i aked to uninstall.

Is it safe to uninstall?

VERY seldom am I comfortable using a Malware products own uninstall program.
I prefer to manually rip it out of the machine.

This is what we tried to do with the OTMove it. Looks like it may have failed.

Repeat the OTMove it part of post #4 please and post resulting log.

You can remove it from Uninstall list as follows.

Delete an Entry from the Uninstall List
  • Open HiJackThis
  • Click on the "Config…" button on the bottom right
  • Click on the tab "Misc Tools"
  • Click on the Box that says "Uninstall Manager"
  • Click on the entry you wish to delete
  • Click on Delete this entry
  • Click "Yes"

I have noticed a programme called Video AX Enhancement 2.07 in the programme file list that has an install date the same day as the virus and problems started. I dont believe that i require the programme so should i uninstall this?

I have run spybot and everything is showing clear at the moment.

I don't believe you can uninstall it..we have already RIPPED it out by the roots, so to speak.
File/Folder C:\Program Files\Video ActiveX Access not found.

You'll need to remove it from list like last time.

I could have sworn we already did this but I guess not…my fault.

Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE:
Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab.
Click the "Delete Cookies" button and then the "Delete Files" button next to it.
When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content",
(You will have to re-enter passwords at websites that require them.)
Click OK

Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin:
Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
Let it scan your system for files to remove.
Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
Press OK to remove them.

Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open…click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report and a fresh HijackThis log

Hi JW,

Carried this out as you suggested and I have posted another log below. Did you mention to get rid of super antispyware earlier as i can see this in running processes. I have no use for it and only downloaded it because of the problem that statrted last month.
