Hi,
Can you help me please.
Since this problem is not an adware problem (I think), I have asked for help in this forum as directed.
I had adware on one of my machines that LDTate fixed for me (thanks again).
My other machine (this machine) is free from adware but is running slow. Web pages are also slow to load.
This is the only symptom. I do not get popups or any virus alerts.
I have done as instructed and posted a HJT header below.
Thanks for your help.

Hi kayaref,
i suggest downloading Spybot Search and Destroy and Lavasoft's Ad Aware. Install both, update them. Run them separately, remove anything they find, then restart your machine.
Let us know if you notice any difference
good luck,

Since you've already received help in Adware/Malware removal from LDTate as recently as yesterday, we can move past looking at adware/spyware/virus, at least for the immediate present.
What we need now is a better overview of how your machine is presently functioning from the point of view of Operating System, Hardware, installed software, memory, video adapter, and internet connection.
Please run the Full Tests at http://www.pcpitstop.com
Full tests is the first item in the left hand column.
Register and create a password.
Accept the ActiveX to enable your machine to run the Full Tests.
Once the Full Tests are completed and you have your Results, please post the TechExpress Link, so that we can review that information.
You appear to have (2) two AntiVirus Products running active on your machine: Symantec NOD32
Having both will almost always create conflicts and stall your machine.
Select one to Run Active and Disable the other one or uninstall it.
You are also running Trojan Hunter in real-time.
Trojan Hunter is a good product, but may be slowing your performance.
Consider disabling Trojan Hunter from running active and use it only as a manual scan as needed.
Your use of Daemon Tools Virtual CD (which helps create .iso images for burning to CD) may be interferring with good performance of your machine. It is not necessary to run this applicaton active from the StartUp list.
The following tools, applications, and processes are not necessary to be running active: Office speech Microsoft Corporation C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe NVIDIA driver helper NVIDIA Corporation C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exe StarWind Rocket Division Software C:\Program Files\Alcohol Soft\Alcohol 120\Sta … \StarWindService.exe SoundMax features Analog Devices, Inc. C:\Program Files\Analog Devices\SoundMAX\SMAgent.exe Debugger Microsoft Corporation C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE
MSN Messenger Microsoft Corporation C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe
MSN Messenger Microsoft Corporation C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe Peer Guardian Methlabs C:\Program Files\PeerGuardian2\pg2.exe SystemAnalyzer C:\Program Files\iolo\System Mechanic Profess … \SMSystemAnalyzer.exe
Since you just recently (today) installed NOD32 AntiVirus, it may be reasonable to guess that you do not intend to use Symantec Antivirus any longer.
You can "usually" uninstall Symantec Antivirus/ Norton Antivirus using the Control Panel - Add/Remove function.
However to get a complete uninstall of Norton/Symantec, it is often necessary to download and Run the Norton removal tool:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen…005033108162039
Since you have an assortment of Peer-to-Peer clients installed, it is understandable that you would like to have strong security protection. However having P2P clients and using them to download, can create risks.
Please complete the above and post a fresh PCPitstop Full Tests for additional review of your progress.
Hi Doug,
Thanks for your prompt reply,
I have uninstalled Norton Antispam and disabled Trojan Hunter.
Pardon my ignorance, but how do I de-activate or disable those programs at startup?
Many thanks,
Kevin
Hi Doug,
With reference to my previous post, I meant the processes that you have listed below.
Do I end these processes through Task Manager, or is there another way, as I get a warning when attempting to end these processes in Task Mgr.
Many thanks for your patience.
The following tools, applications, and processes are not necessary to be running active:
Office speech Microsoft Corporation C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe
NVIDIA driver helper NVIDIA Corporation C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exe
StarWind Rocket Division Software C:\Program Files\Alcohol Soft\Alcohol 120\Sta … \StarWindService.exe
SoundMax features Analog Devices, Inc. C:\Program Files\Analog Devices\SoundMAX\SMAgent.exe
Debugger Microsoft Corporation C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE
MSN Messenger Microsoft Corporation C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe
MSN Messenger Microsoft Corporation C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe
Peer Guardian Methlabs C:\Program Files\PeerGuardian2\pg2.exe
SystemAnalyzer C:\Program Files\iolo\System Mechanic Profess … \SMSystemAnalyzer.exe
That list of items (with the exception of Office Speech) can be "disabled" via System Configuration Utility (MSCONFIG)
GoTo:
Start - Run - (type)MSCONFIG - Enter <–This brings up the System Configuration Utility panel
Click on the StartUp(tab)
To disable items, simply REMOVE the checkmark/tick from in front of each item you wish to disable from StartUp
(it is safe to disable ALL items listed in the StartUp(tab) list, with the exception of your Antivirus and Firewall)
Note: "Disabling" these items does not uninstall them or cripple them in any way. You can always run any of these items manually, or if you decide to do so, re-Enable some/all of them at a later time.
___________
cftmon.exe (Office Speech) - special steps to Disable
Control Panel - Regional and Language - Languages - Details - Advanced
place a checkmark/tick in the box in front of "Turn off Advanced Text Services"
Hi Doug,
Sorry I have not got back sooner.
The following processes I have disabled through MSCONFIG. Trojan Hunter Daemon Tools MSMSGS.exe
I have not disabled CTFMON.exe as yet.
The other processes you listed I could not find listed in the System Configuration Utility panel.
After you've completed the disabling of cftmon.exe, please Run a new Full Tests, and post the fresh TechExpress Link.
We'll get an idea of the progress you've made so far.
Please let us know how the machine is running at this time.
Improvements?
No change?
Anything not functioning as well as previous.
Best Regards
