[Resolved]Can't Get Rid Of Spyware Bot

i dowloaded spyware bot instead of spybot and when i try to remove the program it says that it is running and restarts my computer. after i got the right spybot search and destroy it detected the spyware bot and said that it removed it, but it is still there.

how can i get rid of the spyware bot?

Click Start > Run > and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find (SpywareBotSrv) SpywareBot Scanning Engine
Right click and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service
Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type"
in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK. Exit the
Services utility.



Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O23 - Service: SpywareBot Scanning Engine (SpywareBotSrv) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\SpywareBot\SpywareBotSrv.srv.exe (file missing)

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"


Delete this file:
C:\Program Files\SpywareBot\SpywareBotSrv.srv.exe

Delete this folder:
C:\Program Files\SpywareBot


Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.


(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.


Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

when i go into the services it says that the program is stopped and won't let me click on stop so i ran hijack this and it doesn't have the 023…thing there, but i know it's still there. what should i do?

the reason i tryed to remove it was because once i realized that it was the wrong thing that i was trying to download i found the 'real' spybot and ran that. it found that spyware bot was a threat so i removed it, but when i looked at my control panel it was still there. i went to change/remove and tryed to remove it but it tells me that i can't because it is running and then reboots my computer. also, there is and icon on the bottom of my screen that has a red sheild with and x on it that says that a virus is detected every time i start my computer. i thought that the spyware bot was a virus. is it even a problem?

I'm talking about the Grisoft Anti-Virus program I had you install when we first started cleaning your PC. Not any of the Anti-Spyware programs.
Your wasting your time and mine using your PC without a Anti-Vius and firewall program running. You're just going to get infection after infection.

oh and i never removed ad-aware or spybot search and destroy, but the sheild thing is telling me that i don't have any anitvirus software on my computer

i didn't mean to delete that software if i did. i truly am not meaning to waste your time. when you told me that i could get rid of everything that you had me download i didn't know that i should have left that one. really i am not trying to waste your time. you have been so helpful to me
