For some reason, that Virus Total report did not provide us with what I was looking for.

Please do the following:

There is a file in your log of which I am unsure. For that reason, I need you to submit it to Jotti's for analysis.

1. Click HERE to get to Jotti's site.

2. At the top of the Jotti window, use the Browse button to locate the following file on your system:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ACS.exe

3. Once you have located the file, click SUBMIT and the content of the file will be uploaded by the site and analysed.

4. Please provide me with the results of the analysis.

Unfortunately, the data that I have to work with is too old to be of much value, specially with a LOP infection. So we will have to start from scratch.

A. I see that Viewpoint is installed. Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player are Viewpoint components which are installed as a side effect of installing other software, most notably AOL and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). Viewpoint Manager is responsible for managing and updating Viewpoint Media Player’s components. You can disable this using the Viewpoint Manager Control Panel found in the Windows Control Panel menu. By selecting Disable auto-updating for the Viewpoint Manager – the player will no longer attempt to check for updates. Anything that is installed without your consent is suspect. Read what Viewpoint says and make your own decision.

To provide a satisfying consumer experience and to operate effectively, the Viewpoint Media Player periodically sends information to servers at Viewpoint. Each installation of the Viewpoint Media Player is identifiable to Viewpoint via a Customer Unique Identifier (CUID), an alphanumeric identifier embedded in the Viewpoint Media Player. The Viewpoint Media Player randomly generates the CUID during installation and uses it to indicate a unique installation of the product. A CUID is never connected to a user's name, email address, or other personal contact information. CUIDs are used for the sole purpose of filtering redundant information. Each of these information exchanges occurs anonymously.

Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without user's approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This may change, read Viewpoint to Plunge Into Adware
I recommend that you remove the Viewpoint products; however, decide for yourself. To uninstall the Viewpoint components (Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player):

1. Click Start, then Settings, then click Control Panel.
2. In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
3. In Add or Remove Programs, Remove the Viewpoint component
4. Do the same for each Viewpoint component.

B. I also need you to uninstall Messenger Plus! 3. This program is a LOP carrier when it is installed with the sponsor program. Until we have your system nice and clean, I will ask you to leave Messenger Plus! 3 off of your machine and you may then re-install it, but do not accept the sponsor problem. This is a very difficult infection to get rid of and I need your utmost cooperation to help you clean up your computer.

C. Now, please run the No Lop tool again as described previously and post the results after you have finished.

D. Now, please DELETE ComboFix from your Desktop as it is outdated and we need to work with the updated copy.

You should use the same download site as given in my previous post on the subject. Then run the tool and keep and post the log.

E. After all of that, (I know it is a lot of work), please post a fresh HijackThis log.

F. Reports Required:
  • Report from running the NoLop tool
  • ComboFix.txt
  • Fresh HijackThis log

Regards,
