Hi again, MSN may be the root of your problems. Sign into MSN. Click: TOOLS > AUDIO AND VIDEO SETUP > CLICK NEXT Now select your Mic and crank the volume up. You can try speaking into it and see if the sound measurement goes up. Once done, click next and crank up the speaker volume to the top (it's highest) and then next/finish. Mic should now work :) Post back with results. 'Bob
Ok heres what happens.. When i go to the second screen (the microphone screen), Its like it hears the computer, When i slide the volume bar up the sound recording bar goes up slightly, almost as if its heard something. Right after that, i yelled into the mic piece, and it heard my voice but only very slightly.. Strange?
just thought you might want to check to see if your mic. has been mutedin your audio settings through your icon by your clock !!!! if you dont know get back to me and i will guide you through the steps to check !!! Mike
hello Mike here i should also add that there are other factors that you should check like your sound manager ,mic. boost ,and the advance settings for your mic , i use realtek and had to adjust all the settings that are related to my mic to be able to use with msn and yahoo and myspace!!!!!!! Mike
Sounds like you might have your Microphone plugged into the Auxillary connection, instead of the Microphone connection. The holes are color coded, but not all head-phone-boom-mike units observe the same color coding. Take a careful look where it is plugged in. There is often a headset symbol for speaker plug and an old fashion microphone image for boom-mike. _________ Otherwise, have a look in your Device manager for any yellow or red warnings. and if no Warnings, then is there a listing for "Other" or "unknown" Device? If there is an item in "Other", then click to Remove it. Then reboot so Windows can Find the hardware and install drivers. Good trouble-shooting advice above in the earlier posts as well. Best Regards
Hello there mike and doug, Thanks very much for replying. My plugs are all color coded and ive tried numorous times in the correct plugs. There is a Little yellow "!" mark in Ports > Communications port (COM5). edit: This i strange, the computer isnt finding the headset now. Before there was a little "!" mark under communications part now that has gone all together. All i have now is Communications port (COM1) and ECP printer port (LPT1)…

Thank for writing back mike.. I have checked MSN, and am unsure on what else would be doing it as i currently do not use myspace or Realtek.

Ill see what other audio-altering programs i have :D
Lochy, Go to your computer manufacturer's website to look up your machine in their Support and Downloads section. Download and reinstall all of the Chipset Drivers. Best Regards
The Chipset files will be listed at your Manufacturer's Website. Download to a location you can easily remember. the Chipset drivers will be "executable" files to install by double-clicking on the file.
You can use their tool to identify your machine/motherboard for downloading the correct Chipset files:

ASUS Navigation Wizard

This function will auto direct you to Driver's download page.
New user should click here
Currently only support ASUS Notebook and Motherboard for Microsoft Windows.

Click on the Icon to the left of the words: ASUS Navigation Wizard
