Before last week, I was running AVG Anti-Virus and anti-Spyware. I never seemed to generate any hits of concern off of either. I also had a Comodo Firewall Installed, though because it was a system drag and often flagged items that had already been okayed, sometimes it was set to "Allow All" and left there long-term accidentally.

I am on DSL and have a wireless router set up off of the modem which my desktop plugs into via a CAT 5 LAN line.

I just found out my bank card number was stolen recently and I'm afraid malware may have been involved.

I've gotten rid of Comodo and AVG and added Avast based on feedback from various sites. Does the logfile show any existing issues? Is there a new firewall program anyone recommends?

Howdy Judge Kemp,

Welcome to Tom Coyote. No infection showing here, so unless one of the scans you yourself have done came up with anything either not much to tie this in with other issues (though tough issues I reckon). Opinions about software bring personal preferences along, so my choices might not meet your needs or choices. I am aware Zone Alarm also provides a well known free firewall software (see further info and listings here).
Thank you Jintan. I have done quite a bit of cleanup already so I am glad to see it looks like nothing is left. One question: If I have a router that all my PCs run through (although desktop is hardwired to the router), do I need to worry about a software firewall? I had always heard the router acted as a hardware "firewall." Or perhaps the software firewall needs to be there to keep any infections from "reaching out" instead of being there to keep things from "reaching in." Thanks!
Outgoing traffic is the key in all that. Once it does gain access to the system infection can then bypass the router using different techniques, so a software firewall is a must as well.
