Welcome to Tom Coyote . Sorry about the delay in responding but we are as most times just overwhelmed with logs.

Your log looks clean but is a month old, go to where you have HJT installed and delete it and lets download and install the latest version by Trendmicro.

Download and install Trendmicros Hijackthis

Download the Trendmicro Hijackthis Installer, follow defauts and it will install in C:\Program Files\Trendmicro\Hijackthis and this is exactly where we want it to be.
  • Open HJT Scan and Save a Log File, it will open in Notepad
  • Go to Format and make sure Wordwrap is Unchecked
  • Go to Edit> Select All.....Edit > Copy and Paste the new log into this thread by using the Post Reply and not start a New Thread.
DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Good Morning,

Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

No file associated with this one so lets fix it.
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

  • Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
  • Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
  • It should have an icon next to it:
    Posted Image
    Select it and click Remove.
  • Reboot your system.
  • Then go to the Sun Microsystems and install the update
  • Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 2 <--This is what you need to download and install.
  • If you chose the online installation, it will prompt you to run the program.
  • If you chose the offline installation, you will be prompted to save the file and you can run it from wherever you saved it.
  • Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify
I like to to do the offline installation and save the setup file in case I may need it in the future

Run this system cleaner.
*NOTE* CCleaner deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders. If you have anything in a temp folder, back it up or move it to a permanent folder prior to running CCleaner!

Download CCleaner from here to clean temp files from your computer.
  • Double click on the file to start the installation of the program.
  • Select your language and click OK, then next.
  • Read the license agreement and click I Agree.
  • Click next to use the default install location. Click Install then finish to complete installation.
  • Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
  • On the "Windows" tab, under "Internet Explorer," uncheck "Cookies" if you do not want them deleted. (If deleted, you will likely need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).
  • If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.
  • Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced."
deselect "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours."
  • Click on the "Cleaner" icon on the left side of the window, then click Run Cleaner to run the program.
  • Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Issues" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items.
  • After CCleaner has completed its process, click Exit.

Rest of your log looks fine

It's Not Always MalwareSpeedup Windows Windows Tips Post in our other forum for Other Computer Problems

How did I get infected in the first place ? Read these links and find out how to prevent getting infected again.

Here are some free programs to install, don't leave home without them
  • Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.
  • Ad-Aware 2007 7.0.1.5
Check for Updates and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.
  • Spyware Blaster It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed.
  • Spyware Guard It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • Win Patrol This program will warn you when any changes are being made to your system and give
you the option to deny the change.
  • IE-Spyad
IE-Spyad places over 4000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads
(cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • Firefox 2.0 It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and
painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.
  • Zone Alarm Here is a free Firewall from Zone Labs, I
wouldn't access the internet without it.

Safe Surfn

Thanks for the help, I think I can tell a difference already. I also am going to update the RAM soon, it only has 128mb. Also updating Drivers. The link for "IE-Spyad" goes to a windows forum, and I cannot find the place to download it there. Thanks for the help, it helped a ton!     Autotech

AutoTech,

Thanks for the heads up on the IE-Spyad link. I will have to fix that.

Download it here
http://www.pcworld.c...escription.html

Nice Tutorial
http://www.bleepingc...tutorial53.html

If all you have is 128 or ram your system is most likely crawling. With XP the min is 256 and you will see a big difference by installing 512.

This is the site that all the big boys buy there memory from, I have bought here so many times I cant remember them all. It will let you download a program that will check your computer and let you know what you have and what you need. Stay away from buying memory at places like Walmart , you need quality memory and the correct memory for your system. You could buy a 512 module, you would put it in the first slot, take out the 128 and move it back to the second slot and this would give you 640.

http://crucial.com/

Hope this helps,

Ken

http://crucial.com is showing the max RAM I can have is 512MB. What you said would be 640MB...is it bad to go over max?

I had added more ram to my other computer a few weeks ago, and its running great.

Thanks for the Help.

NO Don't go over, it will do more harm then good. The options you have are to buy the 512 and discard the 128 and install it by itself or buy a 256 ( in the first slot - the larger mod always goes first ) and that would give you 384 which should give you a nice boost.

The chipset on your motherboard handles the memory management and if its set to handle the max of 512, by going over you could have all sorts of memory errors.
