Both my Zipp (cable) connection and my wireless connection stopped working correctly at the same time. They both say I have a connection but I can't get anywhere on the internet. I have repaired IP addresses and it is set to get them automatically. When I type an IP address in I can go there, but not with the browser. My friend says there is something stopping or hijacking the DNS server. Luckily I have another computer that is working (on the same internet connection, so I know that works) and I have downloaded Hijackthis. Here is the log. Hopefully someone can help me. Thanks - in advance! I know. When I cut and paste the log it is all there, but for some reason doesn't show up when I post it. I don't know why it keeps cutting off. I will try sending you just the bottem portion that is missing.

Note: AVG Anti-Spyware might not create the report.txt file. Don't worry about that, just be sure you made the correct settings.
Okay,
I did both downloads and ran both programs. AVG didn't make a report, but found just some relatively harmless but annoying tracking stuff and two other things. I don't know what - sorry. I did everything you mentioned in your last post.

Here is the bottem part of the new Hijackthis log

I am not using the computer I am trying to fix because it won't log on to the internet. I am transferring the files back and forth to my desktop to talk to you. Can I download this file to my flash drive to upload from this computer?
Yup, I ran winsock but I still can't get online so I am still using my other computer to access this site. I can type in the IP address of a site and my computer will go there, but I can't log on the regular way. Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
That is really strange.

1. Unplug the power and all connections, from your external modem and router. Unplug your connection from the PC as well that goes to either device and shutdown the pc.

2. Wait 10 minutes and plug the power back in to the modem and router, plug the connection to the PC back in and reboot.

Let me know what happens.

If still a no go, try to get this onto the non-working PC.

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you, combofix.txt.Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall
The sick computer is a laptop, I have disconnected from the router and modem several times. It doesn't work on either my home router or my work router (or Zipp system).

I downloaded Combofix here is the log. I also ran Hijackthis again.
