Hi whk09,

Lets see what we can do…please do the following…

1. Open HijackThis
- Click the Do a system scan only button
- Check the following entries (below)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {965a592f-8efa-4250-8630-7960230792f1} - (no file)

O20 - Winlogon Notify: SharedDlls - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sae.dll (file missing)

- Close ALL open windows (especially Internet Explorer!)
- Click Fix Checked
Close HiajckThis

2. Run HijackThis again and click on Open the Misc Tools section.
Click on Delete a file on reboot…
Copy and paste the following into the "File name:" text box and then click Open:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\sae.dll

When you are asked "Do you want to restart your computer now?", click OK.

Your PC MUST reboot to delete the file!

3. I need to see another log from HijackThis.
  • Run Hijackthis.
  • Click on Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Next click on Open uninstall manager.
  • Press the Save list button.
  • Save the file to your desktop, with the default name of uninstall_list
  • Copy & Paste the entire contents of that file in your in your next post.
4. Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

5. Please post the following…
  • Smitfraud log
  • Uninstall list
  • New HijackThis log
still not solved yet = S my desktop is still in red color for no reason, i couldnt change it - popups still exist
heres my rapport and hijackthis log

Hi whk09,

Please uninstall AVG Anti-Virus. You should only be running one Anti-Virus program at any time as multiple Anti-Virus programs will conflict and cause problems.

Next, I need to see another log from HijackThis.
Also, Download this file to your Desktop - combofix.exe
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Hi whk09,

Thanks for doing everything.

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update to the latest version…

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications."
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement."
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove the following…
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u1-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
You also need to update Adobe Reader. First, go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall Adobe Reader 7.0.7. Then, go Here to download the latest version.

Your HijackThis log is clean.

Has the initial problem gone away? Any more problems?
everything is working fine for today, no pop-ups and i've been able to change my desktop background back to normal without it changing back to red thanks alot !!
