Hi,

I cannot stay logged in here, each time I attempt to access TC (I have been an active member for some time) I get the run around with emails too-ing and fro-ing to achieve a new password. When I "Change my password" (after eventually getting access) to my chosen P/W I have used since being a member the whole proceedure begins again.

I do not usually log in each time I access this site, I have enabled "Remember me" but now if I close this site then all this too-ing and fro-ing with passwords begins the next time I want to access TC

Is there a problem with my username and password access please? :rant2:

Also if I want to PM anyone, click on their U/N I get the following error message:

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

The error returned was:
Sorry, but you do not have permission to use this feature. If you are not logged in, you may do so using the form below if available

Thanks Paws for your reply.

At the moment I am logged in with a password that TC sent me. If I were to change it to my correct always used password I would not be able to log back in once I have closed TC, not logged out. Since I logged in with the TC password with "remember me enabled" all is well. I can still no longer PM you for instance or any other member on TC

I sent an email to <NoReply(AT)tomcoyote.org> on 7th June and indeed have had no reply. I also believe that another member has attempted to contact administration on my behalf but this is not confirmed.

On all other forums that I am a member of I use the same password as I use here with no trouble at all.

Thanks for your help and hope this can be corrected soon.

Edit: Paws as soon as I changed my password to my own, I could not PM you at all. With the TC supplied password I could as you know.

Edit 2 I changed back to the TC supplied PW and this time I cannot PM you with that either......most odd.

I can't see any issues with your profile. Since the new changes, I also have to enter my user name and password. Maybe Blair will see something.

Tallin would not be able to "see" Bugtracker" sub-forum and may be wondering why her post "disappeared". doug

It sure seems like a cookie handling error on her system. I'd start with clearing the cache and history. ATF makes quick work of it. If that fails, maybe try a different browser?

It's true that only staff can see this bugtracker forum, I'll move it back to the feedback forum.

Thanks for looking at this problem for me.

I assure you my history and cache is cleared daily.

I am a member of several forums and do not have a single problem in sending PM's with/on any of them.

Perhaps you have another suggestion why this is happening?

I'll reset your password, including the hash and SALT. A temporary password will be sent to the email you used when registering. Maybe there's some database corruption and this will clear it.

Thanks Blair for trying to solve this problem.

I received the temporary password, logged in but still cannot PM.

I used ATF-Cleaner.exe you sent just to make sure.

Do I remain with this temporary PW or change it back to my usual one?

Forgot to say Blair, I can stay logged in - the only problem is I cannot send PM's

Feel free to change the password. I think I was confused. I thought you were unable to login and had to request a new password each time. Now I see you're able to login, but unable to stay logged in while trying to send a PM. This is definitely a cookie issue. It happens most frequently when the temp cache of a browser is exceeded. That's why I first recomended ATF Cleaner. Chose the options to clear windows temp, current user temp, cookies, temp internet files, and java cache. I'm 90% sure that will resolve your issue.

To clarify, I now can stay logged in even when trying to send a PM. When I try to send a PM I get the following message:

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

The error returned was:
Sorry, but you do not have permission to use this feature. If you are not logged in, you may do so using the form below if available.

I have run ATF-Cleaner and chosen those options you mention.

thanks for your effort here

UPDATE

I was reading a thread and the poster was online, I clicked on their User name, scrolled down to "Send a message" and up came the PM message window for that member. I could do this with members who were online and off line.

BUT if I was reading the forum board without reading an actual thread and clicked on any UN I still get the following error message.

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.
The error returned was:
Sorry, but you do not have permission to use this feature. If you are not logged in, you may do so using the form below if available.[/b]

So whatever has changed is for the better. Hope this update helps.

Another Update/change.

I was advised to download and install Opera, did so and accessed TC without a problem and can even send PM's but only if I click on a UN within the context of reading a thread, not from the Home Page.

So for the moment my problems seem solved 99%

Hope this helps you Blair in solving whatever this mystery is.

kind regards,
