I keep encountering jump/redirect problems when using Google.

Reboot the PC and post a new HijackThis log. Also, let me know how things are. :)
I tried several Google serches and problem seems to be gone.

BTW can you recommend another antivirus program that is less system intensive than Norton?

Glad to hear the problem has gone.

Below are some excellent Free Anti-Virus programs, which are less intensive than Norton.

AntiVir <– I recommend this
AVG Free Edition
avast! 4 Home Edition

If you want a paid Anti-Virus program, I recommend Kaspersky.

Remember to completely un-install Norton via Add/Remove programs and to only run one Anti-Virus program.
