Welcome to the forum.

Can you explain a little more about your problem:
Is it an icon or file
Right click on it and choose properties
What size is it
What's the name of it
What's the full path to it

-----------

Just clean these up:

Close ALL programs down, leaving ONLY HijackThis running - Click Scan and.....
Place a check against the following items:

F3 - REG:win.ini: load=
F3 - REG:win.ini: run=
O16 - DPF: {F09BFD07-20B5-46D8-A6D5-BE4EF22F1F4D} - http://67.19.2.10/DGTx.CAB

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

-------------------

Go to Start > Run > copy and paste this in > hit OK

regedit /e FIND.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Desktop"

Do a search for FIND.txt, copy and paste it back here.

Hello MrCharlie.....Thank you for replying...It is a folder with no name and when I right click it,the only options are open/explore/create shortcut....thats it....but when I do open it ,it appears to be a copy of my desktop icons and it seems to be s system file...No matter what I do,I cannot delete it even in safe mode...and none of my anti-virus,spy software detects what it is....It is not causing any rpoblemns per say but it should not be on my desktop....I believe it happen when I uninstalled a anti spy program and also it took down my winsock and I had to repair my winsock....this is happening quite often with programs being uninstalled...I cannot drag it to my recyle bin either ,it comes up with a circle and stripe tho it saying it is forbidden... Also when I ran Hijack ,I do not see REG:win.ini:load= REG:win.ini:run= But yesterday when I ran it,I saw it....so whats going on??? Thanks MrC Rumiguru

It's not going to fix anything....just give me some info from your desktop.

do it this way...it should be easier to find:

Go to Start > Run > copy and paste this in > hit OK

regedit /e c:\FIND.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Desktop"

Look for FIND.txt in "C" copy and paste the info back here, MrC

Please pay attention and do what I ask you to.

Go to your Start button......Click on it
Click on Run
Copy and paste this in:

regedit /e c:\FIND.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Desktop"

Now click OK
Back to your desktop
Now double click on "My Computer"
Double Click on "C" your hard drive (Local Disk "C:")
Now scroll down and look for a file called FIND.txt
Double click on FIND.txt to open it up
Right click anywhere in the file and choose "select all"
Right click again and choose "copy"
Now come back to your post and click on "add reply"
Now right click anywhere in the in the white box and choose paste
Now click "add reply"
That should put the info I want in the post
Thank You, MrC
