Good morning.

I'm afraid that you have a number of serious infections. More than one of these "runs continuously in the background, providing a backdoor server which allows a remote intruder to gain access and control over the computer via IRC channels" (Sophos). Another one steals game passwords and information. If the Computer has been used for any important data, you are strongly advised to do the following, immediately:
  • Disconnect the infected computer from the internet and from any networked computers until the computer can be cleaned.
  • Back up all important data on the machine. Do not back up any Applications (programs). Those should be re-installed from the original source CDs or websites.
  • If you have ever used this computer for shopping, banking, or any transactions relating to your financial well being:
    • Call all of your banks, credit card companies, and financial institutions, informing them that you may be a victim of identity theft, and to put a watch on your accounts or change all your account numbers.
  • From a clean computer, change ALL your online passwords – for ISP login, email, banks, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, online companies, games and any online forums or groups you belong to.
  • DO NOT change passwords or do any transactions while using the infected computer because the attacker will get the new password and transaction information.
  • Take any other steps you think appropriate for an attempted identity theft.
I believe that we can clear your computer of these infections but cannot guarantee that it will be 100% safe to use for those sort of transactions. The only way to be certain, would be to reformat and reinstall Windows. The choice is yours - please let me know if you decide to reformat and reinstall.

If you decide to proceed with cleaning the computer, please continue with the following steps.

———————————————————-

VundoFix

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • It will create a report named vundofix.txt on your main drive (C:\vundofix.txt)
Note: It is possible that VundoFix may encounter a file it cannot remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot. Simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears at reboot.

——————————————————–

Download and Install SDFix

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(This is the drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

————————————————————–

Reboot to Safe Mode

Important: If you have an 'always on' connection to the internet, physically disconnect that connection until you are finished with Safe Mode and have rebooted back into normal mode. I suggest that you print these instructions, as you will not have access to them once you have disconnected from the internet.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Continually tap the F8 button as your computer is booting a menu appears.
  • Use up-arrow key to select Safe Mode and press Enter.
——————————————————–

Run SDFix
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds, then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts, the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process and then display Finished.
  • Press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load, the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
—————————————————-

Please post, as a reply to this thread:
  • The VundoFix report (C:\vundofix.txt)
  • The SD Fix report
  • A new HijackThis log
Thx you for your time , i put myself in a bad situation i beleive , i will now print and do the folowing steps you giving me. Ill be back with new log after i did all of the above. Thx again

i put myself in a bad situation i believe

Dear beynac , i have done all your instruction , however , there a few thing that happened while falowing those steps .

vundofix scan went well.

Firt , it did not go on safe mode right away , a deskdop windows apear saying the safe mode is use to fix bla bla , as this window stays for about 3 sec and disepear ,and i was stuck on a black screen with safe mode on eatch corner and the version of windows i use with service pack 1 with no deskdop . So i rebooted again while pressing f8 , same thing happend , same window appears but this time i was quick enough to notice that i had a yes or no to click , so i did click yes before the window disapear , after clicking yes i went into safe mode.

Then , i ran SDFix , there again it dint went as explain , it did perform the scan but when i needed to press any key to reboot , it failed to reboot , so i had to reboot it myself , and the tool did not scan a second time but i did have the report wish i will post.

And after , i ran hijack again , ill post the results.

with all steps being done , i went online but i few suprises happened , wish is my firefox browser was not fonctionning properly, saying that firefox setting was set at "use proxy server" so no page could be loeaded , i change those setting with firefox option, then came here and type my results etc.. but as sonn as i close my browser , it reopen firefox or IE , it refuse to load any web page and firefox return by itself as "use proxy server" . I did try to launch a game for a quick connection test , but there again it says iam not online , but i can see that iam online. so i dont what to do with this probs.

So here is the vundofix report that i ran yesterday/ i ran it today but no treath was fund , because of yesteray :

Well done. You had a few problems but we've made a good start. I need you to run VundoFix again.

VundoFix
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once the scan is complete, Right-click inside the listbox (white box) and click add more files
  • Copy/paste the following into the top text box: D:\WINDOWS\System32\hxdngcyp.dll
  • Click Add Files and click Close Window
  • Click the Remove Vundo button.

AVG Anti-Spyware:

Download the trial version of AVG Anti-Spyware from here and install it. When the program has been installed, and you click the Finish button, AVG Anti-Spyware will open. Do not run a scan yet.

If the program does not automatically update itself during installation, or you are unsure whether it has done so, please do the following:
  • Click the Update icon at the top and under Manual Update click the Start update button.
  • The program will either update or inform you that no update was available.
  • It is essential that you get the update - keep trying until successful. (Note: If you have problems getting the update, you can download an installer for the full database from here (save it on your desktop). Once you have downloaded the installer, make sure that AVG Anti-Spyware is closed and then double-click on avgas-signatures-full-current.exe to install the database).
You will need to change the following settings:
  • Click the Shield icon at the top and under Resident shield is… click active. This should now change to inactive.
  • Click the Update icon and untick the automatic update option.
  • Click on Scanner on the toolbar.
  • Click on the Settings tab.
  • Under How to act? - make sure that Quarantine is selected.
  • Under How to scan? - All checkboxes should be ticked.
  • Under Possibly unwanted software - All checkboxes should be ticked.
  • Under Reports - Select Automatically generate report after every scan and uncheck Only if threats were found.
  • Under What to scan? - Select Scan every file.
You can now close AVG Anti-Spyware. Do not scan yet.

Hi.

I'm investigating your Firefox problem and will get back to you about this. In the meantime, we need to sort out your "NOTEDAD" problem. The 'bad' file is called NOTEDAD.exe. The valid Windows file is called Notepad.exe (with a 'P' instead of a 'D'). We need to check whether you still have the valid file.

You should have at least two files called "Notepad.exe": D:\Windows\Notepad.exe and D:\Windows\System32\Notepad.exe (don't worry about whether the name is in capitals or not). If you do not have the one in the "Windows\System32" folder, then copy the one from the "Windows" folder and paste it into the "Windows\System32" folder - be careful to copy/paste not cut/paste!

Next, click on Start, then My Computer. Click on the Tools menu and select Folder Options…. Click on the File Types tab. Scroll down to TXT File. Click on the Restore button. It should say that it now "Opens with Notepad". If not, click on Change and select Notepad from the list. Make sure that the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box is checked.

If you have any problems with this, then please stop and ask (I appreciate that this will not be straightforward for you as your version of Windows is probably French and my instructions are in English!).

Once you have got Notepad working, you should be able to post the VundoFix and AVG Anti-Spyware reports.
I did check for those 2 notepad.exe and they were there , i did restore TXT and its now working properly. Thx again. Now here are the results: VundoFix V6.4.1 Checking Java version… Java version is 1.5.0.6 Old versions of java are exploitable and should be removed.
