Hijack This Is Missing A File And Regcure Says Ok

I am desperate for help and no computer guys here to help. I have continuing pop ups coming even after I have used PC Doctor spyware remover, Adaware, SpyBot etc. I even downloaded the Kaspersky Antivirus and changed from Norton. I also installed RegCure because that is supposed to fix the computer as well but not the spyware I know. Reg Cure says everything is ok now. I read that I need to install Hijack this and post the log for someone here

to help me. However when I try to open it, I get a message saying I am missing MSVBVM60.dll file, yet RegCure check for dll's says everything is ok. I am not at all sure what to do to get this program fixed because I need you guys to help me with the pop ups but I cannot even get that program to work. As I am typing this message I got three pop ups for ads and also I get a message sometimes that I am being redirected to another site but I always click no for that. I am running Windows XP Service pack 2 and I have searched my computer for that missing file mentioned above but get no results. Is there a place I can go to download that file so I can open Hijack this? I am not the only person using this computer unfortunately so my husband, daughters and grandchildren are always playing games etc etc and clicking on anything that comes up so I think that is part of what got me in this mess. Any help would be gratefully accepted. Thanks.

It looks like that fixed that issue

Can you disable, uncheck Word Wrap, in Notepad and post another HijackThis log please.

You're doing great, just take your time and we'll get it cleaned

I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Next:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.

Next:

* Download VirtumundoBegone, place it on your desktop.

Doubleclick VirtumundoBeGone.exe to start the tool.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Don't worry if you'll get a Blue screen with an error in it - this is normal.
After reboot,

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following if still present (some entries won't be present anymore):

Ok I am back. First of all the three system files you asked me to delete would not let me. They said access denied. These are the tmp40FA.tmp.dll and tabapp.dll. The other one had DecECD.dll.vir after the dll so I didn't know if I should delete that one anyway when the others wouldn't delete anyway.

Download Avenger by Swandog, and unzip it to your desktop or somewhere you can find it. (Do not run it yet).

Note: The Avenger must be run from a user account with administrator privileges,

and ONLY works on Windows 2000 and XP, and only on 32-bit versions!
If yours is a 64 bit version, do not use it, let me know.

Open a Notepad file by clicking Start > Run and typing Notepad.exe in the box, click OK.

Click Format, and ensure Word Wrap is unchecked.

Copy and Paste all the text inside the box below into Notepad.

Now save the file as RemoveFiles.txt in a location where you can find it.

Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tmp40FA.tmp.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\DecECD.dll.vir
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\tabapp.dll

Start Avenger by double clicking on Avenger.exe.

Check Load script from file:

Click on the folder symbol below and to the right, and browse to RemoveFiles.txt.

Double click it to enter it into Avenger.

Click the green traffic light symbol.

You will be asked if you want to execute the script, answer Yes.

At this point you may get prompts from your protection systems, allow them please.

Avenger will set itself up to run the next time you re-boot, and will prompt you to re-start immediately.

Answer Yes, and allow your computer to re-boot.

Upon re-boot a command window will briefly appear on screen (this is normal).

A Notepad text file will be created C:\avenger.txt.

Copy and Paste it into your next post please, along with a new HJT log.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [jlixyelo] C:\xmjmawii.bat

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Delete this File if listed:
C:\xmjmawii.bat

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Here is my latest file. I must say that folders open 150% faster now than they did before so this must be working. The hijack this program is still slow to open but then everything is fast still once it opens. I don't know if the virus scanner makes things slower to open or if it is my need for more RAM which I am going to get on Tuesday. I see a reference to Symantic in this file but I uninstalled my norton antivirus in favour of this Kaspersky which is supposed to be better. I used the add remove part in control panel. Are these files still supposed to be on my computer? I am not very knowledgeable in these things.

It's really hard to remove all of it.

How do I completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus?
Problem: The solution to many problems with Symantec AntiVirus is to completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus, then re-install. You can use these instructions to completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus.

Solution: In order to completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus and all related components you need to follow these instructions.
Note: This procedure will remove all Symantec products, not just Symantec AntiVirus.

1.Click on Start | Settings | Control Panel
2.In the control panel double-click on Add / Remove Programs
3.Look through the list of installed programs for any item that says either "Norton" or "Symantec" or "LiveUpdate". (for example "Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition" or "Norton AntiVirus 2000")
4.For each "Norton", "Symantec", or "LiveUpdate" item, select the item and click Add / Remove. Follow the instructions, and click Yes or Yes to all when prompted.
When you are done there should be no items in the list that say "Norton", "Symantec", or "LiveUpdate".
5.Click OK to close the Add / Remove Programs window.
6.Reboot your computer if it hasn't already automatically rebooted.
7.Delete the c:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus (or c:\Program Files\Norton) folder.
8.Delete the c:\Program Files\Symantec folder.
9.Delete the c:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared folder.

If uninstalling Symantec AntiVirus using Add / Remove Programs does not work, you can use the directions on this Symantec website to manually remove all elements of Symantec Antivirus from your computer.

Click Start > Run > and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find (CLTNetCnService)
Right click and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service
Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type"
in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK. Exit the
Services utility.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O23 - Service: Symantec Lic NetConnect service (CLTNetCnService) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exe" /h ccCommon (file missing)

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

You need to update SunJava.
Updating Java:
Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.

Scroll down to where it says Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1
The Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications.

Click the "Download" button to the right.

Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".

Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.

Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.

Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.

Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. It should have the [external image: Posted Image] icon next to it.

Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.

Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.

Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

Then from your desktop double-click on 6-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Once installed you can test to see that it is in fact installed

I did the services thing you asked bu that was not there. Then I did the hijack thing and deleted the file from there. I have also updated the java so here is my latest hijack log. I assume that you meant to post that as well.
