I am trying to get rid a persistant popups. OneCare, AdAware, Spybot, and CWShredder have not done the job. Even SuperAd Blocker is missing it. This popup usually directs me to ebay but sometimes purports to be return search results from Netster.

BTW I also forgot to post that other windows open up in IE when I am using Firefox. In addition a vundu.k file keeps coming up in MS OneCare.

Here is my log.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment
Below is logfile. Just as I opened up Firefox to respond, 3 IE windows popped up. I have listed the urls below.

http://www.synthebyte.com/affredir_DF.cfm?…amp;rid=1208542
http://www.rootv.com/?channel=USA+news&…&bitrate=56
http://www.fling.com/main.html?prg=1&p…p;id=redmccombs

Apparently, the adware knows I'm in TX as the last one targeted all TX singles looking for a date.

In addition, when in Firefox, I also get Netster and Ebay popups, usually when I enter something in my Google search page. Also, system is very slow.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
On startup computer flashed a window with "Dialog" as the heading. But it disappeared almost immediately. The system them booted normally. However, when I opened up Firefox to post this log below I got some popups in IE windows. They are opening by themselves. Other than that the system seems to be a bit quicker.

Here's the log. I have to step out but will be back in a couple of hours.

You can remove any programs I had you install. Use Add/Remove Programs to remove if listed there otherwise just delete them and empty recycle bin.

Log looks good :D

You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

If you dont have any programs like these, I would recommend that you get them.
Spywareblaster,
Spywareguard.

Also get a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Do not use Ad-aware if you have McAfee's VirusScan and AntiSpyware

Safe Surfing. :D

I would also suggest you read this:
So how did I get infected in the first place?

Not if you're still getting them.
We'll dig a little deeper.

I appreciate all your help. I have to be gone until tomorrow but will complete these instructions and be back online tomorrow evening. Thank you so much for your help. See you tomorrow. :)
Sorry it took me so long to get back. Unfortunately, despite checking the appropriate "Automatically generate a report…" option at scanner setup, a report was not generated by AVG. Not sure what happened. I can send you a screenshot of what quanrantine has listed if you want (just need to know how). Other than that, heres the latest HJT log.

I am still getting a few popups. I'm not sure how to describe them. They are almost like a cartoon baloon type ad that you see popup sometimes within a browser window. Kinda follows the cursor a bit. Weird. Haven't seen any more the run of the mill IE window popup types as of this post.

With AVG Anti-Spyware, if you click on the Infections icon, then it will show you all the items in Quarrantine and you can remove them that way. Just click Select All then Remove Finally

I am still getting a few popups. I'm not sure how to describe them. They are almost like a cartoon baloon type ad that you see popup sometimes within a browser window.

The only thing I know of to do is have a pop-up blocker active.

Some pop-ups / pop-unders you can't stop on some web sites.

I just noticed you're not running a Anti-Virus program, Get this free one.

I suggest you do this:

Click HERE and Save, Install, Update and run a full scan.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Reboot and let me know how it's running.
