Well adaware found it and removed it and found it etc. However my first clue was spylocked wouldn't let me go anywhere took over google etc
The Smitfraudfix log shows no sign of an infection, and I don't see anything resembling it in your log. What steps did you take to remove the infection yourself - was it just Ad-Aware that you ran?

Download gmer.zip from here and save it to your Desktop.
You will need to unzip it before you run it.

To do this: Right click on the zipped folder and from the menu that appears, click on Extract All…
In the 'Extraction Wizard' window that opens, click on Next> and in the next window that appears, click on Next> again.
In the final window, click on Finish

Double click gmer.exe to begin:
  • If you get a message about "system modification", click Yes and work through the rest of the instructions.
  • Ensure that the Rootkit Tab at the top is selected.
  • Make sure all the boxes on the right of the screen are checked, EXCEPT for ‘Show All’.
  • Click the Scan button on the right.
  • When the scan has completed, (you'll have time for a snack and a cuppa!), click the Copy button underneath - this will save the report to your Clipboard.
  • Paste it into Notepad (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad) and save it somewhere convenient.
  • Click the >>> Tab at the top and select the Autostart Tab.
  • Click the Scan button on the right - this one should only take seconds to complete.
  • Save the log as before.
Copy and paste both reports into your next reply - you may need to post them separately.
The Preview option may show the whole logs being posted, but they sometimes get cut down when the actual post is made, so check the post once it is completed.
Noviciate, I tried what you said and then computer shuts down and restarts all over again. I will try it again tomorrow. Anyway, will you look at this when you get a chance. @HL_UpdateOK avi:981-965;iavi:743-706; @HL_TestStarted @TestName_02 @HL_TestEnded @TestName_02 0 @HL_TestStarted @TestName_02 @HL_UpdateOK OKAY, ONE MORE THING, THIS TIME WHEN THAT SCAN YOU TOLD ME TO DO, WITH GMER, WAS RUNNING A BOX POPPED UP THAT SAID - - - WARNING GMER HAS FOUND SYSTEM MODIFICATION CAUSED BY ROOTKIT ACTIVITY. THANKS AGAIN.

Anyway, will you look at this when you get a chance.

It would help to know exactly what i'm looking at - what created this?

OKAY, ONE MORE THING, THIS TIME WHEN THAT SCAN YOU TOLD ME TO DO, WITH GMER, WAS RUNNING A BOX POPPED UP THAT SAID - - - WARNING GMER HAS FOUND SYSTEM MODIFICATION CAUSED BY ROOTKIT ACTIVITY. THANKS AGAIN.

Using capital letters is the forum equivalent of shouting - and i'm not deaf.

Taken from my previous post:

If you get a message about "system modification", click Yes and work through the rest of the instructions.

You have only posted one of the two logs that I requested. Let me have the other one and the information about the scan log and i'll get back to you.
Bear in mind that you can see your PC, and I can't. The less information you supply, the harder it is for me to work out what is wrong and to supply a solution.
If you don't post everything I ask for, I just ask for it again which makes the whole thing last longer than it needs to.
sorry about that capital letter thing, i capitalized it because it was all caps in the warning. i wasn't shouting. why would i think you were deaf?
i'm getting help i desperately need.

when you asked what created this - it was a copy of the virus history on my avg anti virus program

here's other scan, sorry i'm old and stupid and sorry you are mad at me.

I don't use AVG so I can't comment on it's accuracy, but it is showing a lot of IRC/BackDoor.SdBot2 detections. This isn't good - Backdoor definition.
If these detections are correct, then you will need to be aware of the following:

If you use this PC for online banking or shopping then it advisable to contact your bank and have your accounts changed and any credit cards that you may have cancelled.
You should also use another PC, not this one, and change any passwords that you have use online to access any forums, eBay etc…
You can find some more information here.

The problem is that if you do have this type of nasty onboard, or have had it in the past, that it may have made changes to your system in order to lower it's security, which may make it more prone to attack in the future.
It's also going to be difficult to guarantee that the system is ultimately clean as there isn't going to be any way of being certain at the end.
You'll need to decide whether it is worth the risk of having an insecure PC at the end of the cleaning process - if you can't accept this risk, you'll need to back-up your vital data and reformat.
If you're OK with the possibility, read on…

You will need to make a copy of these instructions because you have to disconnect from the internet to complete the fix. Either print them out or copy and paste them into Notepad.

Preparation

1) Download SDFix by AndyManchesta from here and save it to your Desktop.
Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to a folder on the drive that contains the Windows Directory - typically C:\SDFix.

2) Log off from the internet and disconnect your modem cable for the duration of the fix.

Removal

1) Boot into Safe Mode:
  • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.
2) Navigate to and open the SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to begin the fix.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished - press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load, the SDFix report will open on screen and a copy will be saved into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Post a new HJT log, Report.txt AND a description of how your PC is running.

Computer seems to be running real well, right now.
SDFix doesn't show any signs of SDBot infection which is good and Catchme is clean as well. I can't say if AVG was correct when it identified the infected files, but at the moment the PC looks to be OK.
If AVG identifies infected files again, then you will need to come back, but at the moment i'd say that was that - apart from a little housekeeping:

Your HJT log shows an entry for Symantec which could be a leftover as their software is a little reluctant to uninstall sometimes. If you have got rid of everything Symantec, then you will need to do the following -

Go to Start > Run, enter cmd into the text box, and press .
Copy and paste the following in bold into the command window that appears:

sc stop "Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler"

Then press

sc delete "Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler"

Then press

You can close the window now. Finally, delete the following folder: C:\Program Files\Symantec

  • Under Windows Platform - Java™ SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1, click the Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language link.
  • Go to Add/Remove Programs and remove any entries that refer to Java 2 Runtime Environment and then reboot your PC.
  • Navigate to and delete the following folder, if it exists: C:\Program Files\Java.
  • Finally double click the installation file that you downloaded earlier.

Your log doesn't appear to show a third-party software firewall installed - if you have one, and i've missed it, please ignore this.
If you are relying the firewall that comes with Service Pack 2, then you need to install one. While the SP2 firewall is better than nothing, it doesn't monitor outgoing traffic, so anything malicious on your computer can 'phone home' at will.

There are a few free firewalls available.
Zone Alarm: Available here.
Kerio: Available here.
Outpost: Available here.

It is important to note that you should only have one firewall installed at a time, but you can download them all to your Desktop and install each in turn to see which one you prefer.

You are running HJT from an unsafe location. An easy way to correct this is to do the following:

Download a copy of HJTsetup.exe from one of these locations and save it to your Desktop:Location one.
Location two.
Location three.
  • Double click HJTsetup.exe to begin installation.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box uncheck the box to the left of "Launch Hijackthis" and then click Finish

As long as the above goes OK, I want you to run your PC as normal for a few days. When you are happy that everything is fine, do the following:

Update your anti-virus program,
Disable System Restore,
Boot into Safe Mode,
Scan your computer for viruses.
When you get the all clear, reboot into Normal Mode.
Re-enable System Restore,
Create a Restore Point.
This will give a clean Restore Point should you need it in the future.
A tutorial for System Restore is available here.

The reason for waiting is that if removing the malware has caused a problem, which it occasionally does, you can put your PC back to how it was before the fix. This will re-install the malware, but an infected PC is better than an expensive paperweight!

Some bedtime reading: This is a very good tutorial about keeping your computer safe and secure on the internet.
