Hi Guys,

I have followed instructions from a previous thread to try and remove these annoying popus, but to no avail. I downloaded lspfix which found nothing and also downloaded vundofix which keeps finding new items to remove.

Any help appreciated.

Hello leighval,

Welcome to the Tomcoyote forum! I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.
HijackThis logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me. I know that you need
your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that happens.

In order to help me help you, please observe the following while we work:
  • If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't continue, we don't want to start all over again!
  • Understand that cleaning your computer can sometimes take multiple passes/posts,
and it's important to follow the steps as listed including re-running scans as listed
  • Please reply to this thread, do not start another.

If you can do those three things, everything should go smoothly

—————————————————————–

Please this first:
Hijackthis is running from a Temp folder. In order to create and keep backups, Hijackthis needs to run from in side a folder.
If you have created a short cut Icon on desktop delete it now. We will clean out the one in your temp folder later do not worry about it now.

Re-Download HijackThis and save to your Desktop. Click HERE
  • Double click on HJTSetup.exe and by default it should install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This
  • Make sure to read dialogue screen when installing and put a check in the box create a desktop Icon when you get to that prompt screen. This will create a short cut on your desktop.
  • Follow all the prompts, click Finish, and let the installer start HijackThis.
  • Click the Do a System Scan and Save a Log File option.
  • Notepad will open with the Hijackthis log, please post it's content here.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Paste the log in your next reply.
This is important to have done first.

———————————————————————

Please disable Windows Defender Real Time Protection as it may interfere with the fix.

To disable Windows Defender:
  • Open Windows Defender
  • Click Tools
  • Click Options
  • You will have to Scroll down this screen until you see Real Time Protection Options
  • Uncheck Use Use Real Time Protection (recommended)
  • Click on the save button
  • Close Windows Defender
Once your log is clean you can re-enable Windows Defender Real Time Protection.
——————————————————————-

Please do the followng:

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) make sure to click the Save button not Run button and save to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.exe

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a 'RiskTool'; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between 'good' and 'malicious' use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

——————————————————————–

Make a uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1.Start HijackThis

[external image: Posted Image]

2. Click on the Open the Misc tool section button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button

[external image: Posted Image]

4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.

You will now be presented with a screen similar to the one below:

[external image: Posted Image]

5. Click on the Save list… button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save list button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply. Note: please uncheck word wrap under format in notepad

Post HJT Uninstall list in next reply

———————————————————————-

Please post these in your next reply to this thread:

I see you already have Ccleaner just need to make sure it is setup like the following.

*NOTE* CCleaner deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders. If you have anything in a temp folder, back it up or move it to a permanent folder prior to running CCleaner!
  • Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
  • On the Windows tab, under Internet Explorer,
  • All Boxes should have a check mark. (You will need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).
  • On the Windows tab, under Windows Explorer,
  • All Boxes should have a check mark.
  • On the Windows tab, under System,
  • All Boxes should have a check mark.
  • On the Windows tab, under Advanced,
  • NO check marks
[*]If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to put check in for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla. If already checked move to next step.

[*]Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced."

deselect "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours."
[*]Click on the "Cleaner" icon on the left side of the window, then click Run Cleaner to run the program.

[*]Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Issues" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items.

[*]After CCleaner has completed its process, click Exit.

[*]You will need to reboot here if not ask to do so.

  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.

Next I will need you to run one more tool to see if something is hiding from HJT scan

Download WinPFind3U.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named WinPFind3u on your desktop.
  • Close ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
  • Open the WinPFind3u folder and double-click on WinPFind3U.exe to start the program.
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar. << do not change any settings
  • The program will be scanning huge amounts of data so depending on your system it could take a long time to complete. Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
Use the Add Reply button and Copy/Paste the information back here. I will review it when it comes in. If, after posting, the last line is not

NEW HJT log
I have downloaded WinPFind3U.exe, it has been running for at least 3 hours now and it still says "Scanning Run Keys…" When i click on the toolbar it says not responding. Should it be taking this long? Leigh
Hello leighval

I was just told that there is an issue with last update to winpfind3 tool. Sorry for inconvenience, so just delete winpfind3 folder.

I will need you to run a different on line scan to see if something is hiding.

Run Panda's ActiveScan from here and perform a full system scan.

1. Once you are on the Panda site click the "Scan your PC" button NOTE: If you have a popblocker enable you will have to allow popup here.
2. A new window will open…click the big "Check Now" button
3. Enter your Country
4. Enter your State/Province
5. Enter your e-mail address and click send
6. Select either Home User or Company
7. Click the big Scan Now button
8. If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
9. It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a couple minutes. You may have to reboot here and start back with step 1. I did.)
10. Click on "Local Disks" to start the scan
11. Post Panda scan results in your next reply with others requested.

Please post theses in your next reply

[external image: Posted Image]

Please post this has soon has you get it so I can be checking it and then go to the next part here. I need you to try to run this tool again it has been fixed.
Make sure you have deleted the winpfind3u folder from first time and the installer.

————————————————————————————-

If it does not produce a log in 45 miniutes cut it off and post back to let me know. thanks

If, after posting, the last line is not < End of Report > then the log is too big to fit into a single post and you will need to split it into multiple posts.

Hi leighval

Thanks for posting log you are doing a great job. Just delete Winpfind3u folder and installer we will forget about using it .

I believe I have found cause of error message.

Please do the following

Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present):
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SoundService] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\aqjydbtc.dll",setvm

WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.
—————————————————

Use Explorer to navigate to and delete the following file (if it is present) just what is in red:

Files:
  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\aqjydbtc.dll

Reboot computer
NOTE: If these files will not delete in normal mode you can boot into safe mode and try again.

———————————————-

Let me know if you still receive an error message when you restart computer.

———————————————-

Sometimes malware will hide from HiJackThis so we rename it.

Here's what I need you to do:
Get to C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\Hijackthis.exe
  • Double click on "My Computer" on your Desktop
  • Double click on the C: drive
  • Double click on "Program Files" folder
  • Double click on "HijackThis" folder
Rename HijackThis.exe
  • Right click on the HijackThis icon.
    [external image: Posted Image]
  • Select Rename.
    [external image: Posted Image]
  • Now type the following scanner.exe note: make sure to put period before exe when typing.
Hit the enter key on keyboard.
    [external image: Posted Image]
You will need to re-create a short on desktop for new Scanner exe. after doing this make sure to delete the other shortcut on desktop first.
When you right click on Scanner.exe > choose send to > Then Choose Desktop( create shortcut) > Done

Run Scanner.exe and save your log file and post it here, like usual.

Please let me know if you have any questions!
Hi tim s,

Hello leighval,

You appear to have a program on your system called Logitech® Desktop Messenger. This is a background process that can automatically access the Internet without your knowledge or permission. Although it does provide updates for your Logitech products, the fact that it can access the Internet without your consent is potentially dangerous. It does download and update your Logitech products but this can be done manually by visiting the Logitech web site. My advice would be to uninstall this program (Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs) but this is entirely your decision. I suggest doing all updates yourself and removing this application!

Should you wish to uninstall the program, please follow these instructions.
  • Click Start.
  • Click Control Panel.
  • Double click Add or Remove Programs.
  • When the list has generated, scroll to Logitech Desktop Messenger.
  • Click Logitech Desktop Messenger to highlight it .
  • Click the button, Change/Remove.
  • Close Add or Remove Programs and Control Panel.
If you decide to uninstall Please post a new HJT log for me to check. Let me know what you decide either way.
Program uninstalled, new log below :-
