Welcome to the forum, not a lot of information you provided? Unless you created that Hosts file situation on purpose, we will start with that.

1) You are running HJT.exe from a .zip file in a Temporary Directory. This is unsafe as we will have no backups. That is why you received this message when you used HJT: http://russelltexas....nsafefolder.gif
Please use the information in the following link to place HJT in a permanent, safe folder, I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe. If you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas....tehjtfolder.htm

2) Download the HostsXpert 3.8 - Hosts File Manager.

Unzip HostsXpert 3.7 - Hosts File Manager to a convenient folder such as C:\HostsXpert
Click HostsXpert.exe to Run HostsXpert 3.7 - Hosts File Manager from its new home
Click "Make Hosts Writable?" in the upper right corner (If available).
Click Restore Microsoft's Hosts file and then click OK.
Click the X to exit the program.
Note: If you were using a custom Hosts file you will need to replace any of those entries yourself.

3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune

Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

any 01 lines that are there

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

5) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log, let me know about any problems. Use Add Reply, stay in this same topic.

Here is the new log. We didn't create a custom hosts file before, we wouldn't know how.

The problem just happened again a couple of times ... the computer reboots by itself when your in the middle of something. It has done this by itself in the middle of the night as well.

Yes, there is an error message when it happens. It provided a link to redownload the Freedom firewall. I did that and so far so good ... also 'Automatically Restart' is now unchecked. I haven't done the Pitstop scan yet ... I'll be back if there are further problems.

It’s too bad that families have to be torn apart by something as simple as wild dogs.
