A line in your Smitfraud log might indicate a problem...it may also be a false positive:

»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» pe386-msguard-lzx32-huy32

Download Rustbfix from one of these locations:
http://www.uploads.e...et/rustbfix.exe
http://uploads.ejvin...om/Rustbfix.exe
...and save it to your desktop.

Double click on rustbfix.exe to run the tool. If a Rustock.b-infection is found, you will shortly hereafter be asked to reboot the computer. The reboot will probably take quite a while, and perhaps 2 reboots will be needed. But this will happen automatically. After the reboot 2 logfiles will open (%root%\avenger.txt & %root%\rustbfix\pelog.txt). Post the content of these logfiles along with a new HijackThis log.

That also may be due to the fact that the Smitfraud tool was not run from the desktop as instructed. Please go back to those instructions and re-run it from the desktop.

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Hi Jon,

I went back to the Kaspersky log from earlier and I should have had you delete this file that was found.

C:\Documents and Settings\Jenna Newberry\My Documents\backups\backup-20070321-133637-652.dll

I'd like you to try and go back and run Kaspersky again. Let it run all the way through if it is able. Temporarily disable McAfee real time virus scanning if you keep getting the pop ups.

Post the Kaspersky log please.

Dave

OK Kaspersky has found several items we need to delete.

1) Please download the Killbox.
Save it to the desktop and run it.

2) Select Delete on Reboot, and then click the All Files button. That button should now flash on and off with a green color.

3) Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy)::

C:\Documents and Settings\Jenna Newberry\My Documents\backups\backup-20070321-133637-652.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ajahmsky.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ammgossy.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\elieujua.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\fmbgrlab.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\inijjcji.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\INJEWYCF.0LL
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nbvaybjy.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\opjaxlre.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\TYWPYWPE.0LL

4) Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.

5) Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt.

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually. After rebooting, open up Killbox again. Click File -> Logs -> Actions History Log
Post this log in your next reply.

The computer seems to be running slow. On start up and shut down the music tone is choppy. I have not seen any Mcafee popups. Here is the report.

OK I missed one file back from your combofix log. You can use Killbox to delete it.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\twbltqog.dll

Not seeing anything else malicious in your log at this point. Due to the level of infection there could have been some damage done that we just can't see. Let's run a rootkit scanner to see if anything is found.

Download and Save blacklight to your desktop.
F-Secure Blacklight: https://europe.f-sec...light/try.shtml
Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement.
click > scan then > next,
You'll see a list of all items found.
Don't choose for rename yet! I want to see the log first, because legit items can also be present there...
There must be also a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers)
Post the contents of the log in your next reply.

OK nothing there Jon,

Let's backtrack again. Last time you ran AVG Anti-Spyware it was not able to finish. Let's run ATF Cleaner again and then AVG in safe mode. I'll give you all instructions including for downloading but if you still have the tools then just skip over to where you need to.

Use ATF Cleaner to remove temp files, cookies, cache, ect...

Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune to your desktop.

Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe to open it.

Under Main select the following:
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox:
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.
