Hi,lilbushand welcome to Tom Coyote forums

I am currently looking over your log. As I am an Undergraduate, everything that I post to you must be checked by an Admin or Moderator. Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts, but it shouldn't be too long. I will post back shortly with a potential fix.

Thanks for your patience!

Hi lilbush

Make a folder on the desktop , name it "HJT" locate "HijackThis.exe" copy and paste the file into the new folder you created on the desktop "HJT"
If we need a backup, shoud things not go as we would like, we have our backup.
Please do this before we continue with the fix.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Run hijackthis.
Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{3CC3E6AA-5351-4AD5-B9F3-1CEDF1AA5769}: NameServer = 85.255.115.61,85.255.112.60
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{A7E69542-03F7-43AD-90C9-FC8554BDBE4D}: NameServer = 85.255.115.61,85.255.112.60
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{3CC3E6AA-5351-4AD5-B9F3-1CEDF1AA5769}: NameServer = 85.255.115.61,85.255.112.60
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\..\{3CC3E6AA-5351-4AD5-B9F3-1CEDF1AA5769}: NameServer = 85.255.115.61,85.255.112.60

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.sub.../Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingc.../Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads a text that will open (report.txt) Please save this file, you'll need to post it with a new HijackThis log.

Next:
Click Start> Run> type in CMD tap enter key
Copy/Paste: ipconfig /flushdns

Now lets check some settings on your system.
Enter your Control Panel and double-click on Network Connections

Then right click on your Default Connection
Usually Local Area Connection for Cable and DSL
Left click on Properties
Double-Click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item
Select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS Servers Automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two

Reboot and "copy/paste" the text file (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log

Please include new HJT log in your next post
Thanks dan

Hi lilbush

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files
If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed.

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?

Call all of your banks, credit card companies, financial institutions and inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft and to put a watch on your accounts or change all your account numbers.

From a clean computer, change *all* your online passwords -- for email, for banks, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, online companies, any online forums or groups you belong to.

Do NOT change passwords or do any transactions while using the infected computer because the attacker will get the new passwords and transaction information.

Also do whatever else that seems appropriate.

If you decide to reformat you should check that you have all the necessary information and software.

If you decide to continue with a cleanup you should not use this computer for financial or other sensitive transaction.

Let me know what you want to do.

Thanks dan

Optional - VIEWPOINT MANAGER
Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This will change from what we know in 2006 read this article: http://www.clickz.co...cle.php/3561546
Additional info:http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_137262.htm]Here[/url]
I suggest you remove the program now. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.
  • Viewpoint
  • Viewpoint Manager
  • Viewpoint Media Player
  • Viewpoint Toolbar
Your call.

To provide a satisfying consumer experience and to operate effectively, the Viewpoint Media Player periodically sends information to servers at Viewpoint.
Each installation of the Viewpoint Media Player is identifiable to Viewpoint via a Customer Unique Identifier (CUID), an alphanumeric identifier embedded in the Viewpoint Media Player.
The Viewpoint Media Player randomly generates the CUID during installation and uses it to indicate a unique installation of the product. A CUID is never connected to a user's name, email address, or other personal contact information.
CUIDs are used for the sole purpose of filtering redundant information. Each of these information exchanges occurs anonymously.'

Hi lilbush

for some reason AVG Anti-Spyware is not responding. is this caused by my problem?

At what point is it not responding?
Did you have problems downloading?
Were you unable to set it up as Instructed?
Were you able to update the latest definitions?

If you still have problems continue with the fix and will sort the scan out later!
________

Right click start, In the drop down menu click "Explore" Then navigate to "program files"

C:\Program Files\HijackThis.exe

Then open "HijackThis.exe" folder then create a folder name it "HJT" then copy and paste "HijackThis.exe" into the folder you created

We need to do this fix in the Order I have Instructed!
We will get this sorted before you start with the fix.
