I installed a new anti-spyware program (CounterSpy) that tells me that I have a Trojan on my hard drive, but quarantining or removing the trojan with CounterSpy produces no result. I have run scans with several other anti-virus/anti-spyware programs, but none of them detect a trojan or any other problems. CounterSpy tells me that I have: TROJAN.WIN32.VB.tg - listing it's location as: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SYSTEM

I can't see anything wrong by looking at the Hijack This log - can anyone help me out? Thanks

Hello and Welcome to the forum.

I suggest you do this:

Please go to http://virusscan.jotti.org , click on Browse, and upload the following file for analysis:

C:\Program Files\taskmgr.exe

Then click Submit. Allow the file to be scanned, and then please copy and paste the results here for me to see.

If Jotti is too busy you can try these.

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Any idea what these are?

C:\Program Files\14
C:\Program Files\16
C:\Program Files\15
C:\Program Files\11
C:\Program Files\10

Not seeing anything but the above.

I still don't like this file. It doesn't google at all. Lets rename it.
C:\Program Files\taskmgr.exe <--Rename to taskmgr.old

See if you have taskmgr in C:\windows\system32

Any idea what these are? C:\Program Files\14 C:\Program Files\16 C:\Program Files\15 C:\Program Files\11 C:\Program Files\10 Yes - theseare part of a tracking program called BigBrother that I use to make sure my kids aren't getting into anything to heinous on the internet. I don't use the program anymore, so it can easily be deleted. I changed that file to taskmgr.old BTW: the TASKMGR version number shows as 9.2.0.7, with a company name of MS

I posted to http://www.thespykil...x.php?board=1.0 with the subject Daaaag and a link to this post for the log. I wasn't sure if you wanted me to paste the log into that forum or not. I attached C:\Program Files\taskmgr.old to the message.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the 2 files

further examination suggests it might be a commercial keylogger/monitoring program from one of these 2 sites
http://www.internetsafetysoftware.com/

http://www.kidcontrol.net/index.htm

Have you installed one of these kids monitoring programs

Edit to say it is almost certainly big brother from internetsafetysoftware.com

CounterSpy tells me that I have: TROJAN.WIN32.VB.tg - listing it's location as: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SYSTEM Is there a way to tell if this trojan is really on my computer? How do I get rid of it?
