Explorer [Not Responding] and Log

For the past month, Windows Explorer becomes unresponsive whenever I'm online with Internet Explorer. After clicking "End Task" with "Explorer [Not responsive]" highlighted in the Close Program window, everything returns to normal, but not for long. My computer sometimes freezes upon start up (it can even happen multiple times in a day). There has got to be an expert on what processes should be removed to end this on-going situation of mine. Hello and welcome to the forum

You have quite a collection of bad guys there.

Click the HERE and Save, Install, Update and run a full scan.


1. Open My Computer
2. Right click on your hard drive that you wish to clean (C drive, for example)
3. In the context menu that opens, select properties
4. Under the general tab you should select Disk Cleanup
5. Windows will scan your drive which will take a few seconds/minutes
6. A box will display the various files you can remove.
Check all boxes except compress old files (If listed)
7. Click OK and windows will comply.

Restart your computer.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

I installed the AVG program (your link doesn't work) and ran it at full scan. When it was complete, 3889 files were detected for healing. When healing reached 51% complete, AVG became unresponsive, forcing me to stop the program using ctrt+alt+delete. After rebooting, I realized that Windows Explorer no longer became unresponsive whenever I was online. As of this past Sunday, the computer has never frozen upon start up. AVG has been uninstalled (with the exception of the "Virus Vault"), mostly to save on hard drive space. I have also followed the disk cleaning steps after using the AVG program.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.


Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

I don't see the anti-virus program running. Does it show a icon for it in the taskbar by the time of day?



Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"


Delete this File if listed:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\systime.exe



1. Open My Computer
2. Right click on your hard drive that you wish to clean (C drive, for example)
3. In the context menu that opens, select properties
4. Under the general tab you should select Disk Cleanup
5. Windows will scan your drive which will take a few seconds/minutes
6. A box will display the various files you can remove.
Check all boxes except compress old files (If listed)
7. Click OK and windows will comply.

Restart your computer.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

The AVG anti-virus program was uninstalled, as I previously stated. The systime.exe file is gone, but the following remains:

I'm sure it's dead but you can look in the registry.

Click "Start"> "Run"> type in Regedit tap Enter Key

Make sure "My Computer" is highlighted

Click "Edit"> "Find"
Type in wavetop tap Enter Key.
Right Click on the file if found and select "Delete"

Tap the "F3" Key to find the next entry of the file. Continue using the "F3" Key until it's finished searching.

Close Regedit.
