Hi Kyun Jin

I want to remove one of your programs, " Trillian" due to it being Infected. If I try to clean out the infected files I don't think the program would respond anymore, so I will give you a better source to obtain the program again.
Delete Trillian

• Click Start
• Go to Control Panel
• Go to Add/Remove Programs
• Find and click Remove for the following (if present). It could be that they have a space or something between it , but it has to look like it:

Time to get tough with this norton entry I think.
Next we need to stop a process that is running on your computer

To do this...
Startup HJT and select the 4th button entitled
Open the misc tools section

Under where it says system tools click on
Open process manager

Now look for the following processes one by one in the list below, once you find them highlight them then click on the
killl process

Please copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the following text in the quote to Notepad. Save it as
All Files and name it FixServices.bat. Please save it on your desktop.

sc stop Symantec Core LC
sc delete Symantec Core LC
exit

Double click FixServices.bat. A window will open and close. This is normal.

Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present)
O23 - Service: Symantec Core LC - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe

WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED Click on Fix Checked and exit

At this point I'm assuming we still have system folders revealed ? If not could you reveal as shown in a previous post.


Re-boot into safe mode

• Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
  
• Restart your computer
  
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear use arrow up to highlight
  
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.
  
• For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site: HERE

Right click start, In the drop down menu click "Explore" Then navigate to each file\ folder in the left hand pane, which will reveal its content in the right hand pane, highlight file or folder right click and Delete, if present:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared <=======This folder

reboot back into normal mode

I uninstall Triliian - so that's done. So you are aware - I was unable to kill the process C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe using HijackThis. A pop-up within that program told me to run services.msc - where I was able to kill the process...was successful in deleting that folder in Safe Mode.

That link you sent me, sent me to the Developer's site but when I clicked on the button to download it - it sent me to downloads.com to download Trillian - I hope that was a safe source to download from.

Hi Kyun Jin

Your Java is out of date Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:

• Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.
• Scroll down to where it says " Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6".
• Click the "Download" button to the right.
• Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
• The page will refresh.
• Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
• Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
• Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
• Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
• Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.

One more HJT log should do it. I want to see java Install went ok.
