You are running two anti-virus programs, you will need to remove one of them.

If you are going to remove norton read first. http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem.htm

Rescan with HJT and post a new log here.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Little Eagle,

Sorry for the delay in my reply. My father passed away and I had to help my mom take care of a few things. He is in a better place now.

I have removed the Norton Anti-Virus as you recommended and also removed the Avast! and AntiVir PE anti-virus programs as well. I also purchased the full version of AVG. Before I removed the anti-virus programs, I ran a scan on each of them plus a scan on my spy ware programs. Their results follow along with a new HijackThis log. The computer seems to run much quicker and more reliably. I would like to know if there is any other problems on my computer that I should be concerned with. Thanks for your help and patience.

Joe

Joe

Sorry to here that, and your log looks clean.

Download and run - ATF Cleaner instructions here.

Then defragment your disk.

Also reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account
which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because
you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Little Eagle, Thanks for all your support. I have completed all the items you provided to my computer and it is running much faster and more stable. It is good to have capable people who volunteer their time to help others out with their frustrating computer problems. I tried to donate to Tom Coyote via PayPal, but could not figure out how to designate the payment to him. The link on the forum board puts you into PayPal but does not automatically set Tom Coyote up as a recipient of a donation. If you think a non-computer science major (I am a chemical engineer) could learn how to assist others clean their computers of malware, I would be interested in helping. Once again, thanks for your support. Joe Kunkel
