Hi! :wavey: and welcome to the Tom Coyote forums.
My name is John Brouwer - if it helps, you can call me John for short. I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

HijackThis logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me. I know that you need
your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that happens.
I am currently looking over your log. As I am a trainee, everything that I post to you must be checked by an Admin or Moderator. Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts, but it shouldn't be too long. I will post back shortly with a potential fix.

Please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
  • I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
Greets, John.

Step 1: Download HijackThis
You're running HijackThis from the archive and from a very strange directory so please download this one.
Please follow the instructions below to redownload, install, create a desktop shortcut.

Go to Click here to download HJTsetup.exe

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.

Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.

Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch HijackThis.
Close HijackThis for now.

Step 2: Download and Run FixWarout
Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.sub.../Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingc.../Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Step 3: Remove bad HijackThis entries
  • Run HijackThis
  • Click on the Scan button
  • Put a check beside all of the items listed below (if present):

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{18B965A2-9623-41E6-9B19-F533243D78A1}: NameServer = 85.255.114.29,85.255.112.109
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{2E5A2B54-055D-4FD2-AF24-C67AA2E05BE1}: NameServer = 85.255.114.29,85.255.112.109
    O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.29 85.255.112.109
    O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{18B965A2-9623-41E6-9B19-F533243D78A1}: NameServer = 85.255.114.29,85.255.112.109
    O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.29 85.255.112.109
    O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\..\{18B965A2-9623-41E6-9B19-F533243D78A1}: NameServer = 85.255.114.29,85.255.112.109
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.29 85.255.112.109

  • Close all open windows and browsers/email, etc...
  • Click on the "Fix Checked" button
  • When completed, close the application.
Finally, please post a fresh HijackThis log, along with the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt

Now lets check some settings on your system.
(2000/XP) Only
In the windows control panel. If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties. Click the Networking tab. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be avaiable on some systems
Next Go start run type cmd and hit OK
type
ipconfig /flushdns
then hit enter, type exit hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed)

Greets, John.

Hi thanx for the fast reply! I did everything you said except i couldnt find "Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically". I accidently ran "ipconfig /flushdns" with no space once before i saw that you needed a space. I dont know if that changes anything?

Hi thanx for the fast reply! I did everything you said except i couldnt find "Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically". I accidently ran "ipconfig /flushdns" with no space once before i saw that you needed a space. I dont know if that changes anything?

Hi,

I did everything you said except i couldnt find "Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically". I accidently ran "ipconfig /flushdns" with no space once before i saw that you needed a space. I dont know if that changes anything?

The infection you had is related to internet connection to certain servers. Some people get problems after removing the entries so that's why we have everybody flush the dns (and check the dns manually) to be sure they will have internet connections after the fix. If you can still access the internet you've done nothing wrong :)

Step 1: Remove Poker programs
From your log I can see you've installed poker programs. A lot of poker programs are infected/can infect you with malware.

I would advise you to go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall your party programs.

Here are links to some poker sites regarded as safe for your reference.

* http://www.pokerstars.net/ - This is a free to use/play site.
* http://www.pokerstars.com/ - This is the paid for version.

Step 2: Update Java
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.
  • Download the latest version of Java™ SE Runtime Environment 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.
Step 3: Update Adobe Reader
It looks like your version of Adobe Reader is out of date and you're vulnarable for infections.
Please download the newest version here:
http://www.adobe.com...roducts/reader/

Install it, then go to Add Remove Programs and remove any older versions that may remain.

Step 4: Download and Run ATF Cleaner
Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune to your desktop.

Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe to open it.

Under Main choose:
Windows Temp
Current User Temp
All Users Temp
Cookies
Temporary Internet Files
Prefetch
Java Cache

*The other boxes are optional*
Then click the Empty Selected button.

Firefox:
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

Opera:
Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Step 5: Run Kaspersky Online Scan
Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky,
Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
Step 6: Post logs
* Kaspersky log
* Fresh HJT log
* Tell me if your still having problems/questions

Greets, John.
