Where is my logfile?

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following,

O3 - Toolbar: ???????2.0 - {03465FF5-00AE-411a-9C34-960ED566EC03} - C:\Program Files\superutilbar\superutilbar.dll
O3 - Toolbar: ?????? - {B580CF65-E151-49C3-B73F-70B13FCA8E86} - C:\PROGRA~1\baidu\bar\BaiduBar.dll (file missing)
O23 - Service: zhengtu928 - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\win32.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode:
Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

C:\Program Files\superutilbar
C:\PROGRA~1\baidu\
C:\WINDOWS\win32.exe
Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.


If you were unable to find any of the files then please follow these additional instructions:

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop.

Run it, and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot. For each of the files you could not delete, paste them one at a time into the full path of file to delete box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.

The program will ask you if you want to reboot; say No each time until the last one has been pasted in whereupon you should answer Yes.

Let the system reboot.
Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.

I did what you told me. This time there was no popup from AVG or Windows telling me there was a virus, but there is an annoying IE shortcut that takes me to a website for buying things. I've deleted it many times but every time I reboot, it comes back.. Here is the new log after doing what you said.. Thank you so much again for helping me..

I would like to see a copy of the file in bold.

Click start / then my computer / local disk then follow the process tree.
Or using Windows Explorer, locate the first file you want to zip.
Right click on the file and select Send To and Compressed (zipped) Folder.
This makes a copy it does not delete it.
Please zip the file and upload it here

I emailed you the file. I didn't find the "system32" folder anywhere but i did a search for the ddos.exe file and it was in "Prefetch" file. Thanks.

Ok. Sorry, I had to go to sleep last night. I hope we're still ok. I sent you the correct file in email. The computer is acting the same. Thank you very much.

Download The Avenger Copyright © Swandog46
You must extract avenger.exe to your desktop, before you run it.
The Avenger must be run from a user account with administrator privileges,
and ONLY works on Windows 2000 and XP, and only on 32-bit versions!

Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard.

Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ddos.exe


The above script is for this user only, if you need help please start your own thread.

Start the Avenger.
Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
Click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script".
Paste the entire text in into this window.
Click done, now click on the Green Light
Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
Your computer shoud reboot, and briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.

After the restart, it will create a log file that should open.
This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
Paste the contents of the file into your reply along with a fresh HJT log.

Also: Avenger has made backups of all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, located at C:\avenger\backup.zip.

Did all you said. Unfortunately, the computer is still acting up. The IE shortcut is still on the desktop and windows detected a virus on reboot. Here is the Avenger log and a fresh Hijackthis log. Thanks..

Click Start > Run type services.msc > OK In the list of services find: Windows_ServerDdos Rightclick that line and choose Properties. On the General tab Stop and set the service to disabled. Reboot & Rescan with HJT and post a new log here. Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Be sure to keep SunJava, updated

In Add/Remove programs click on these and press *remove* if listed:
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 - 97.99Mb
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2 - 143.00Mb
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 4 - 144.00Mb
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5- 151.00Mb
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_04 - 130.00Mb
Or any other outdated J2SE


It is important to remove older versions as these are the ones with the holes in them. You will be surprised when you go to add/remove to see all of the versions sitting there.

Go to IE > Tools > Windows Update > Product Updates, and install ALL High-Priority Security Updates listed XP, that of course includes the Service Pack 2!

I did the winupdate wrong before because this took much longer and it updated 63 XP things. There is one problem… Because, I'm a foreigner here I don't read Chinese and the winupdate was in Chinese. I didn't see anything that said "service pack 2", but I did see a couple that said "service pack 1". I updated everything and here is my new logfile…

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following,
O3 - Toolbar: ???????2.0 - {03465FF5-00AE-411a-9C34-960ED566EC03} - C:\Program Files\superutilbar\superutilbar.dll
Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

C:\Program Files\superutilbar
Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.
