Disconnected every few minutes

I've got a Gateway MX6960 notebook, using verizon pc card (pc5740). I'm getting kicked off the internet every few minutes, sometimes sessions only last six seconds. Verizon has done all they can; even sent me a replacement card. Gateway says it's not their problem, and that maybe it's a hardware compatibility issue. Two or three days ago, I started to get redirected to some Gateway search, always saying that the page I'm looking for couldn't be found, when in fact I've clicked nothing. Webroot SpySweeper picked up adware called IE Driver and quarantined it two days ago, but I don't know what to do with it now. TrendMicro Antivirus isn't finding anything. I take all my classes online, and I've already failed two tests due to this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thank you.
