Hello and welcome to the forum.

Sorry about the delay in responding :(

I need to see a full hijackthis log.

If you still need help, Scan again with HijackThis, and copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Please use the [external image: Posted Image] Button below to reply. Thanks
Computer has been behaving much better after running the fixwareout program. Haven't been redirected to any sites via their google links, and also, my Spybot program is now working w/out freezing up when I try to fix problems. So here is the new HJT log:

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

No need to download again but please run it. Sometimes it takes 4-5 times running Fixwareout and the flushdns to remove the bad 017's

Double Click Fixwareout.exe and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads a text that will open (report.txt) Please save this file, you'll need to post it with a new HijackThis log.

Next:
Click Start> Run> type in CMD tap enter key
Copy/Paste: ipconfig /flushdns
If you are typing this in, note the space between the g /f
It needs to be there.

Now lets check some settings on your system.
Enter your Control Panel and double-click on Network Connections

Then right click on your Default Connection
Usually Local Area Connection for Cable and DSL
Left click on Properties
Double-Click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item
Select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS Servers Automatically
Note: Do this for all Network Connections
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

As far as I can tell, my computer has been behaving itself since the first time I ran fixwareout, but I wanted to complete all of the suggestions you made as I'm sure there are very good reasons for you making those suggestions. Anyway, everything appears to be working like it's supposed to, at least, as far as my untrained observations go. I noticed something was wrong initially when I would google something, click on the result, and get sent to a porn site. For example, if I googled "Cox.net, Cox.com" and clicked on the result, instead of going to the cable company, I got smut onscreen. But like I said, that hasn't happened since I ran Fixwareout the first time. Appreciate all the help!!! :wavey:
Those 017's needed to be removed. Those were what was causing the redirect.

You need to update SunJava.
Updating Java:
Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. It should have the [external image: Posted Image] icon next to it.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on 6-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.
Once installed you can test to see that it is in fact installed

You can remove any programs I had you install. Use Add/Remove Programs to remove if listed there:

Log looks good :D

You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

If you dont have any programs like these, I would recommend that you get them.
Spywareblaster,
Spywareguard.

Also get a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Do not use Ad-aware if you have McAfee's VirusScan and AntiSpyware

Safe Surfing. :D
