Hallo to all of you.

I hope you can help me. I got advice from RSG in south Africa that you might be able to help me. My computer is very slow and there are all kind of warnings of spyware and malware on the computer. I don't think I even understand all of it. I run a newly updated Norton Anti Virus and thought that will be adiquite. Apparently not.

I'm currently in the bush in Kenya where I do humantarian work - thus internet access is not always easy.

Hope it is enough information

Here is my Hijack this log:

Welcome to the Forums.

The fixes we will use are specific to your problems and should only be used for this issue on this machine.

Please only use this topic to reply to. Do not start another thread.
If any other issues arise let me know.
The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear. So lets do this to the end!
Please if you decide to seek help at another forum let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and tying 2 of us up is a waste of time.
If you have any questions about any advice given here please STOP and ask!

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
Save it to your desktop.
Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
Select:
Delete on Reboot
then Click on the All Files button.
Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\zshp1018.exe

Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.

Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.
______________________________

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with any others I have asked for in your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

Please post back the log from Smitfraud fix..c:/rapport

THINGS ARE DOING MUCH BETTER - THANK YOU SO MUCH.

IS THE MACHINE NOW CLEAN??

THANKS AGAIN

JACO
Back up the registry

Download ERUNT
Save it to your desktop. Run and install this program.

In the box that opens ONLY choose
System registry.

Then click OK.

Next

Search for and remove
Now I want you to search for and delete the following folder and all it's contents if present. If you need help finding it.
Click start /search/ all files and folders/ look for More advanced options. once in there select the first 3 boxes.
Please just remove the files/folders I listed in BOLD

C:\Program Files\MalwaresWipeds

Just let me know everything is still running ok.
Then we will do a quick clean up of what all we did.
Hi - Greetings from Kenya

Back up the registry - Download ERUNT DONE

I've copy the text to notepad - but I'm not sure what to do with it now?

I've remove the folder with MalwaresWipeds

The system was very slow today - although the anti virus was updating and the internet link was slow - so maybe it is only that.

Thank you

Jaco
Sorry about the poor instructions. My fault. ;)

Lets try that again.

Open note pad and copy the text in the box exactly to notepad.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\explorer\run]
"user32.dll"=-

Make sure there are NO blank lines before REGEDIT4
Make sure there IS one blank line at the end of the file.

Then click on the FILE menu and select save as
Save the file as regfix.reg. Save the file to the desktop.
IMPORTANT: make sure to save the file as "all types" and NOT as a text file.

Now double click the file on the desktop
When asked if you want this to merge with the registry.
Click YES!

Please post a new HJT log.
I'm glad to see others are also sometimes having problems…. :D

I've done it - this is the new HJT log - thanks

The machine seems to be very slow at the moment.

  • Notepad will open with the results of the scan and the log will be saved to the folder that you extracted the program to(C:\WinPFind2\WinPFind2.txt)
  • Post the log in your next reply please. You may need to split the log over a couple posts so that it doesn't get cut off. If so please use the [Start Post #1] and [Start Post #2] deliminators in the log to split the log up.
Post that log for me then try what I have decribed below.

You have many items running at start up that do not have to be.

Heres what I would do.
Click start/run and type in Msconfig
Go to the start up tab and look at all the things that are running. Everything that has a check mark by it is running at start up.
What you need to do is decide what has to be running all the time and what doesn't. Then uncheck what you don't need running at startup. All of these program can be started manualy when you need them.
The way to do this is to google the exe in the 04 line you see in your HJT log. You can look them up here
Be sure to leave anything to do with any security programs such as Nortons/ firewalls and such running.
