Hi gotostofand welcome to Tom Coyote forums

I am currently looking over your log. As I am an Undergraduate, everything that I post to you must be checked by an Admin or Moderator. Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts, but it shouldn't be too long. I will post back shortly with a potential fix.

Thanks for your patience!
dan
Hi gotostof

1.) Create a folder in the root of your C: drive and name it Blacklight.
A brief explanation of how to do this can be found HERE.

2.) Download F-Secure's BlackLight from HERE and save it into the folder you just created.

3.) Log off from the internet and disconnect your modem cable.

4.) Go to Start > Run, copy and paste the following into the Text Box and hit OK:
"C:\Blacklight\blbeta.exe" /expert

The F-Secure Blacklight Beta window should open.
  • Accept the agreement and click OK.
  • Click the Scan button to begin.
  • Leave the PC idle while the scan takes place.
  • When it has completed, click the Close button.
  • A text file, fsbl-date/time, will be saved in the Blacklight folder, copy and paste this into your next post.

Re-boot into safe mode

  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.
  • For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site: HERE
Can you run me HJT whilst in safe mode and save the log file and post it back to me.

Hi, gotostof,

Now use Blacklight in exactly the same way as before, but when it shows the list of the items found, select each entry and choose to let Blacklite rename them by clicking the Rename button.
  • Next to each entry, "rename" should appear.
  • Click "Next".
  • Blacklight will give you a warning if you are sure. Click "Yes".
  • Then it will tell you: "Your computer will reboot now"
  • Click "Yes".

Please download Brute Force Uninstaller to your desktop.
  • Right click the BFU folder on your desktop, and choose Extract All
  • Click "Next"
  • In the box to choose where to extract the files to,
  • Click "Browse"
  • Click on the + sign next to "My Computer"
  • Click on "Local Disk (C:) or whatever your primary drive is
  • Click "Make New Folder"
  • Type in BFU
  • Click "Next", and Uncheck the "Show Extracted Files" box and then click "Finish".
RIGHT-CLICK HERE and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download EGDACCESS Remover.
Save it in the same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).

Copy the part in bold below into notepad and save it as aftermath.bfu
Save it in the same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU) and set Filetype to "All files"

RegDeleteKey HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\hpisrbnewo
RegDelValue HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run|hpisrbnewo
FileDelete %SYSDIR%\hpisrbnewo_navps.dat
FileDelete %SYSDIR%\hpisrbnewo_nav.dat
FileDelete %SYSDIR%\hpisrbnewo.dat
FileDelete %SYSDIR%\hpisrbnewo.exe
FileDelete %SYSDIR%\hpisrbnewo_m2s.xml
FileDelete %WINDIR%\hpisrbnewo.exe-*.pf

Then, please go to Start > My Computer and navigate to the C:\BFU folder.
  • Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe
  • Behind the scriptline to execute field click the folder icon [external image: Posted Image] and select EGDACCESS.bfu
  • Press Execute and let it do it’s job. (You ought to see a progress bar if you did this correctly.)
  • Wait for the complete script execution box to pop up and press OK.
  • Behind the scriptline to execute field click the folder icon [external image: Posted Image] again and this time select aftermath.bfu
  • Press Execute and let it do it’s job.

Hi gotostof

That looks a little better, I noticed you have vundo exe on your desktop, It is important that you follow my Instruction and not try other tools, for the duration of the fix.

I appreciate you want things up and running but if your doing one thing, and I'm wondering why some things are not going to plan then we will be going round in circles.
Not only that, running some tools and the infection doesn't warrant that tool you can come into a lot of problems ie, losing your desktop!
Thanks for your understanding.

At one stage you had three antivirus programs running, this is not good. From your last log to me I'm not seeing system mechanic 6, Is this one of the programs you have taken off ? If this is the case you will now need a firewall

Your log shows that you have two antivirus programs installed and running side-by-side ( avast , Kaspersky Anti-Virus , ).
Do not attempt to run two entirely different 'on-access' resident scanner anti-virus products simultaneously. It is simply an accident waiting to happen. Having more than one antivirus program running and "active in memory" will most definitely use far more additional resources, adversely affecting your access to files and causing overall system slowdowns.

Most of the popular anti-virus products (when running together) will "fight for control" over the user's machine, and it is this conflict that will create slowing the system speed as well as other serious compatibility problems. This can also create registry conflicts as well as causing false virus alerts - or worse, missing alerts entirely!

Additionally, many of these types of programs simply do not "play nice" or work well with each other. Unfortunately, the only thing many of these types of security applications seem to detest more than potentially harmful viruses - is other antivirus applications running simultaneously together with them. Also, not all AV programs can be installed as secondary scanners, and sometimes installing separate AV programs will cause a conflict or the program's installer will even try to 'uninstall' any other anti-virus programs during the installation.

Therefore, my advice would be to pick one (or the other) of your antivrius programs to use and then use Windows Add/Remove Programs to uninstall the one that you do not want to use anymore.

Thanks dan
*** I had vundo exe on my desktop before we started working on this problem but this is one of the programs that I uninstalled
***You right in the past I had all three antivirus but not at the same time. I was just trying them all hoping one of them would fix my pop ups problem but unfortunately they did not and they all told me that my computer is not infected that is why I posted my problem in this forum.
I did have avast antivirus then I uninstalled it to try the free trial of Symantec …Then, I uninstalled it to try the free trial of Kaspersky Anti-Virus…then I uninstalled it and now I am using avast antivirus
The only reason they still show on my computer is that after I uninstalled the Kaspersky and Symantec but some folders were not fully erased, I tried uninstalling them manually but I did not work

System mechanic 6, Is this one of the programs I have stopped from running up but I did not take it off. Beside that I have a firewall:

And security center on control panel shows that I have a windows firewall running, and also It shows that my avast antivirus is off for right now because I am running the online scan you told me to do. I had to stopped it from running because I was not sure you if know that I have avast AV running or not. After the scan I uninstalled the online AV version

Save it to your Desktop as cleanup2.bat. Save it as:
File Type: All Files (not as a text document or it wont work).
Name: cleanup2.bat

Locate cleanup2.bat on your Desktop and double-click it. A DOS window will open briefly and then close, this is normal

Use windows explorer to find and delete these folders:

C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\
C:\Program Files\Symantec\
