Need help. Virus

Welcome to the TomCoyote forums. You can try running an online virus scan:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Let me know how it goes.
Regards,
Ax
you can try running your antivirus and any other anti-malware app you may have in safe mode. after updating them if you can. what happens when you try to download HJT, can you get to any other websites like this with no problem:
http://www.ewido.net/en/
or
http://www.superantispyware.com/superantis…efreevspro.html
if so please download, install, update and scan with one or the other.
to reach safe mode you would tap your f8 key during a computer restart. chose the first option safe mode. if you can download one of the above, run while in safe mode also.

AX, Nice Id !
I clicked on ' Housecall.Trendmicro.com ' … and the reply was … Intenet Explorer can not display this page.
Appreciate your attempt to help. Thanks.

Thanks Fexdavid
Along with what shelf life suggested, it might be a good idea to make sure Norton isn't being too restrictive. I worked on a computer once where Norton's security was set so high that it blocked everything and it couldn't update its own virus definitions, much less do anything else!

shelf life,
The 2nd link worked …superantispyware.com… I ran it NOT on safe mode and found 67 items and removed them. I then ran it again on safe mode and found 0 items. Hope that solves my dillema.
I really do appreciate your help. Thanks!

Glad to hear shelf life's suggestion worked, we're here anytime you need it

Hi,
All looked good for a day or two and then 1) the notice of " Homepage Change " appeared
and 2) " adware.maxsearch " attempt followed.
I do appreciate the help.
Fex
I'm guessing you are saying that you are having a new problem. The following link contains information regarding Adware.MaxSearch, as well as instructions for removing it:
http://www.symantec.com/security_response/…-060814-2255-99
Of course, if you are not comfortable with the removal instructions, I would suggest you post an HJT log in the HijackThis Logs forum.

Ax

Ax,
I did. I appreciate you!
Thanks
Fex
Yep, I understood you as far as your HJT log, but I guess now I don't understand "Symantec wouldn't let me in".
Ax,
What I meant was the link you sent to me to remove Adware would not open.
