Hi :)

Ok they're infected but not well recognized. I would like you to upload files again…

If you already deleted SFP, please download the Suspicious file Packer from Safer-Networking.Org and unzip it to your desktop.

Run SFP.exe.

Please copy the following lines into the Step 1: Paste Text window:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\MScff1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\MSd89.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\MS884.sys
C:\WINDOWS\cursor\MS15.cur
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\g\f1.3
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\g\h1.3
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\g\i1.3

then click "Continue".

This will create a .cab file on your desktop named requested-files[Date/Time].cab

Please go to this forum
There's no need to register. Just start a new topic, titled "Files for sUBs".
Copy the link of this topic to the message.

Use the Attachment box to upload the cab file from your desktop.

NOTE: You will not see the files that have been uploaded (including the ones you upload yourself) as they only show to the authorised users who can download them

Thank you, then we'll continue

PS. I propably can't get back to you before friday because I'm going out from town but I'll promise to reply as soon as possible.
Hi again, we'll continue :)
Sorry for the long delay…

Please delete the ComboFix tool from your computer. We can't use that at the moment.

Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop -> ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe

We'll use OTMoveIt again.

Please download the OTMoveIt by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt.exe to run it.
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\MScff1.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\MSd89.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\MS884.sys
    C:\WINDOWS\cursor
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\g
  • Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything on the Results window to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it on your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Restart your computer to the safe mode:
  • Restart your computer
  • Start tapping the F8 key when the computer restarts.
  • When the start menu opens, choose Safe mode
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
Run a scan with Dr.Web CureIt
  • Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, you should now mark the drives that you want to scan.
  • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found [external image: Posted Image]
  • If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable
  • After the scan, in the menu, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  • Reboot the computer in Normal Mode,
  • Post the Cure-it report and a fresh HijackThis log
Hi, done with MoveIt: C:\WINDOWS\system32\MScff1.exe moved successfully. DllUnregisterServer procedure not found in C:\WINDOWS\MSd89.dll C:\WINDOWS\MSd89.dll NOT unregistered. C:\WINDOWS\MSd89.dll moved successfully. C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\MS884.sys moved successfully. C:\WINDOWS\cursor moved successfully. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\g\d moved successfully. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\g moved successfully. Created on 02/18/2007 13:59:39 Then scan with DrWeb in safe mode but return no virus result. So no report list can be safe. Thanks :)
Ok good :)

If everything is running ok, you can delete the C:\_OTMoveIt folder.

Also check if this file still exists and delete if found:
C:\WINDOWS\system\PDFAid.dll

Please also post a one more HijackThis log just in case :)
Hi, I found the 'PDFAid.dll' and deleted it, but I still can't remove the 'pctools.dll' in the C:\_OTMoveIt folder. The other files that I last move using OTMoveIt can be and already deleted from the OTMoveIt folder manually, just left with the 'pctools' which still doesn't want to leave. I stumbled in the registry that pctools is related to registry mechanic software which I had installed sometime ago, so I uninstalled it, but it doesn't help too in removing the file from C:\_OTMoveIt folder. Is there any other way? or will it be of any danger if left there?

From this log, I found 2 items which I don't like or suspicious:

1) C:\New Folder\NCHGBIOS2SVC.exe (is this a legitimate file?)
2) R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://d.baidu.com/index.php?tn=LordFox (I think this is related to a chinese website which my wife use to visit, but I don't like it coz sites like these tend to have many adware/malware installed without our knowledge. Can I remove it? or does it pose any danger if left as is?)

Thanks.
Hi :)

The pctools.dll file is malware and not related to PCTools software.

This NCHGBIOS2SVC.exe is a legitimate file, belongs to Toshiba…

Yes fix this with HijackThis:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://d.baidu.com/index.php?tn=LordFox

Most of the infections you had were chinese…

Let's try to remove the folder with a batch file.

You should print these instructions or save these to a text file. Follow these instructions carefully.

Restart your computer to the safe mode:
  • Restart your computer
  • Start tapping the F8 key when the computer restarts.
  • When the start menu opens, choose Safe mode
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
Open Notepad and copy the following lines into a new document:

@echo off
attrib -r -h C:\_OTMoveIt\*.*
del /a /f /q C:\_OTMoveIt\*.*
RD /s /q "C:\_OTMoveIt"

Save the document to your desktop as Remove.bat and filetype: All Files
Go to your desktop and run the file Remove.bat and allow to run it if prompted. A window will open and close.

Restart the computer normally. Let me know how it went and post a fresh HijackThis log.
Hi, done as instructed. Still cannot delete the C:\_OTMoveIt folder.

Here is the fresh HJT log after running 'Remove.bat' in safe mode and rebooted:

Thanks.
Evening :)

Ok let's try with a different method.

Please download and install Unlocker (with the default settings)
When installed, go to "My Computer" and "C-drive".
Rightclick the following folder;" _OTMoveIT"
Choose "Unlocker" from the menu
A new window opens. Please copy the info (if any) from this window.
Then click on "Unlock All" and allow to reboot if prompted.

If it doesn't prompt for a reboot, Rightclick the following folder again ;"_OTMoveIT"
Then on the down left corner, choose "Delete" and hit "OK"

Let me know if this worked and post the info from the window if possible :)
Hi, I think we run into a recalcitrant here. It doesn't goes away at all. Using the Unlocker I tried a few times from using 'delete', 'unlock all', 'rename', 'remove'… without any luck. By the way, the laptop did not reboot and I reboot manually and the file is still there. I even tried in safe mode. Anyway, here is the log when using Unlocker:

No Locking handle found.
However Unlocker can help you deal with this object.
Choose the action you want to perform on the object.

(Choose) Delete

The object could not be deleted.
Do you want to perform the requested delete operation at next reboot? (no auto reboot, have to manually reboot, but file still there).

The above log is the first few attemps, later another option came out as shown in log:

Process Path locked PID Handle Process Path
Explorer.EXE C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\PCTools 1420 1964 C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE

Sorry, this must be a headache for you. However, thank you for your effort. :)
Hi :)

Ok don't worry.

Please download Process Explorer to your desktop.

Unzip Process Explorer and double click on procexp.exe

In the top section of the Process Explorer screen click on winlogon.exe so that it is selected.
Then click on File -> Save As -> Save the text file to your deskop and post it's contents to here.

Hi :)

You didn't select the winlogon.exe before saving the text?

Well that's ok, I think it is ok to use stronger methods now.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Folders to delete:
C:\_OTMoveIt

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.
  • Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
  • Now click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script"
  • Paste the text copied to clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
  • Click Done
  • Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
Post the contents of C:\avenger.txt to here
Hi, sorry but I thought I did select the winlogon.exe. Anyway, here is the Avenger log: Logfile of The Avenger version 1, by Swandog46 Running from registry key: \Registry\Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\nfhuwnlo ******************* Script file located at: \??\C:\WINDOWS\system32\eluloovf.txt Script file opened successfully. Script file read successfully Backups directory opened successfully at C:\Avenger ******************* Beginning to process script file: Folder C:\_OTMoveIt deleted successfully. Completed script processing. ******************* Finished! Terminate. I saw that '_OTMoveIt' folder being moved into C:/Avenger folder. Thanks. :)
