I am running Windows XP and recently after 30 seconds of non use the computer tries to hibernate. the screen goes black and a small picture of a padlock appears in the upper right hand corner for a second. the computer then acts as if it were hibernating, but not fully. when i move the mouse again it comes up to my Windows XP log in screen at which point i have to click on my name for the computer to come back. If a program is running when this happens it continues to run while hibernating. If it were in full hibernation this wouldnt happen. I have to think i have something running that i dont want. Please Help here is my log file.

Hello NicePhants and welcome to the TomCoyote Forums! :wavey: We apologize for the delay in responding. We are swamped with requests and some topics do get overlooked on occasion because of it. By the information you are providing, it seems as though the computer goes in "standby" and not "hibernate". Standby keeps active processes running as long as power is not cut. When power is cut, the computer is turned off and the data that was loaded in memory is lost. Hibernate on the other hand, saves the content of the RAM and some other stuff to the HD. If the power is cut while in hibernate, it shouldn't lose any of the info. At least that's my understanding of the differences. Now, on with the problem. Go to the Control Panel - Performance and Maintenance - Power Options. Review the info there and change accordingly. When done, apply. In the Advanced Tab, look for "Prompt for password when resuming from standby" and uncheck it. I'll attach a screenshot of that option so you can see. See if that helps. Regards,
