Hi cindy76015and welcome to Tom Coyote forums

I am currently looking over your log. As I am an Undergraduate, everything that I post to you must be checked by an Admin or Moderator. Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts, but it shouldn't be too long. I will post back shortly with a potential fix.

Thanks for your patience!
dan
Hi cindy76015

Here are a couple of optional fixes:
Those O18s can be done away with by removing Logitech Desktop Messenger from Add/Remove Programs.
It's supposed to be checking for updates, but it's just another unnecessary backweb piece of junk as far as many experts are concerned.
If all the O18 entries are fixed, they will most likely just propagate again. I would suggest removing Logitech Desktop Messenger as a recommended optional removal.

Check this out for info on Weatherbug and make your own decision:

Here is an adware free alternative:

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe.
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Hi, Dan! Below are the results of the scan. I can tell you this much; these unwanted popups and the trojan warning came up after I (stupidly it seems now) downloaded a screensaver from screensaver.com. I think there is a file on my PC called isamonitor.exe that I cannot delete. It seems to be the culprit. However, I am NOT a computer genie by any means. So whatever you think I need to do I will do. I haven't deleted the O18 files yet or Weatherbug. Weatherbug has been on my PC for quite a while and I don't think the problem is with that file. • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.
______________________________

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt
