Hello hardwarehero and Welcome to TomCoyote,

Your log appears to be clean. You need to update your Java. Hijackthis logs do not show everything though. We depend much on person telling us if he/she are experiencing problems and then have person run other tools, etc. Are you experiencing problems?

Updating Java
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.0.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windows-i586.exe to install the newest version.

If you or administrator DID NOT not set this – then you check this item:
Scan with HijackThis. Place a check against each of the following:
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
Close all windows or browsers except for Hijackthis. Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Please let me know if you are having problems.
Here is my most recent HT logfile reflecting Java update. The only problem that I am having is Norton Clean Up finding temp files that when googled, show to be potential viruses. This is not confirmed but they keep re-appearing (e.g., ~DF498.tmp). In any regard, thanks for your help.

You may not have anything to worry about. It is common to have files with the .tmp present. Let's just run a scan and see if it finds anything.
